Ticket buying and parent/teacher conferences
You know you have been jaded by the online ticket-buying process when the online scheduler for parent/teacher conferences opens at noon. Knowing from experience that timeslots fill fast, I was refreshing for 15 minutes before the scheduler was open. Fortunately I scored front-row seats for each of my daughter's teachers! The appointments are even in order, so I don't have to wander aimlessly at the school between appointments. YAY ME!

Front row? I got stuck on the school lawn.
But I hear it's easier to sneak beer in on the lawn.

You realize that once you turn pro you can no longer compete against the amateur ticket customers.

I wonder if I could sell any of my timeslots for cash. There is money to be made here.

There should be a way for the "true parent" to score the best slots

<----- Puzzled. I really had no idea you had to go through so much to have a P/T conference. How times have changed.

I didn't know you had to have tickets for a P-T-S conference.

Maybe members of the teacher's fan club get the secret password?

It is rather complex.springparrot wrote:Thank you Penny....I thought I might be the only one that was confused.SMLCHNG wrote:<----- Puzzled. I really had no idea you had to go through so much to have a P/T conference. How times have changed.

We are limited to meeting with 5 teachers: 1 conference with her arts major teachers and 4 with her core academic teachers (math, science, english, history). You can schedule meetings outside of conference time with your student's teachers for elective classes (although her elective courses are also academic focused; civics and French).
The trick is, conferences start at 3pm, there is a dinner break between 5-5:30, and the last conference time slot starts at 7:20. We are permitted 10 minutes for each conference. So, the goal is to get all five of the conferences scheduled in succession. If you are not one of the first to log on and schedule, you may not have enough time to meet with all the teachers or you may have your first conference at 4:30 pm, but there weren't enough timeslots to have them all in a row, so you might not get done until 7pm with a lot of wandering around the school to do.
So. Very. Difficult.
