I was in KW earlier this month, and will be back a few times before MOTM, but am looking forward to seeing everyone again the week of Halloween! :pirate:
I wonder if the girls from Montana will be back this year........Had a blast with them on the beach on Saturday....they brought shots, I had drunken gummie bears......the cabana boys on the beach cleaned our sunglasses, brought us cold water and offered foot rubs in exchange for gummie bears...... 8)

Ok...here's a really dumb question. [smilie=hammerit.gif] We're only going to be in Key West for that Saturday - so I am not registered for the actual MOTM. (didn't know we were there at the same time!). Is the music line-up at the Casa available for just us anybodys?

If they still do things the way they used to the last time I went in 2006, no. The Casa is the host hotel and you have to be registered for MOTM to get on the grounds for any of those events.

We are going this year!! Just called Southernmost on the beach and their rates have gone way up so it doesn't look like we will be staying there this year. :( The room we have stayed in the two previous visits has gone up $100! :o Yes, they renovated but in 2011 the room was already renovated but I guess they have to pay for them now. Very disappointed. Looking at Lighthouse Ct. and some other small hotels. If anyone has suggestions, feel free to post. No desire to stay at Casa.
Ciao!

Yes you have to be registered and in order to register you have to be a member in good standing of a Parrothead club. If there's no club near you , you can do the Virtual PH club thing.

You would need transportation, but the Days Inn on Roosevelt Road (Avenue ?) just as you drive onto Key West Island has single rooms (2 double beds) for $105.00 per night (internet rate) and King Suites for $121.00 per night (also the internet rate). It's a ways from Duval Street where most of the stuff happens, but fairly close to the Casa Marina. Not close enough where you wouldn't need transportation of some sort, but I'm guessing you would anyway. A pretty nice place, only drawback, as I said, is it is a ways from where all the stuff is taking place.
I stayed there last year in a suite, and got the senior discount-$790.00 for the week.
Here is the link-

Whatever you decide, I hope you have fun, and I look forward to seeing you again.

Thanks but the Days Inn is too far from the action. We like to walk to everything when we are there. We did book at the Southernmost Hotel in their smallest Queen (approx $200/nt with my AARP :o discount) room for now. She said that last time we were there (2011) we got a group rate but as of now no parrothead group has negotiated one so she couldn't assign one to me but told me to check back in a couple of weeks. My husband is a creature of habit and we really do love the Southernmost properties. We won't have a view of the ocean but will still have all the amentities of the resort. We can walk to Casa from here so that is the other reason we like staying here. I think I will still check out other places nearby but I will probably have a tough time talking hubby into it. :D
Ciao!

I thought I was the only one from Montana that goes. I'm
trying to get a group from Livingston to go with me this year. With all of the activities at the Casa I may have to stay there.

The Asheville NC club link doesn't work - so we may have to look into Atlanta. Or virtual. Depending.

They were fairly young (30s) girls. One of them had just finished a year of chemo and told her husband to watch the kids she was going to Key West with her sister for a week. :wench: We toasted that she kicked cancer's a$$. 8)
