Tryin to Reason with a Cyclone (Hurricane) Season...

Next week the bride and I are off on our Christmas sojourn. Heading to Mele Island in Vanuatu.

Here is the latest Colour Satellite Image for the SW Pacific:

Anyone see a problem?

Oh and just to compound it, we fly into it on the 21st - Doomsday.

I am beginning to think I am a Cyclone magnet.

(It's OK, been through enough cyclones and it will just be a tropical depression by then...?)

We have spoken to friends in Samoa and it is a disaster there. Much worse than the tsunami a few years back.

Several people still missing and several thousand homeless.

We haven't yet spoken to friends in Fiji, they were in the worst hit area.

The good news is that Evan has been pushed to the south by a series of cold troughs - into relatively 'empty' ocean and over relatively colder water which should see it diminish in intensity.

If you have ever contemplated a South Pacific vacation, then next year Samoa and Fiji will need the visitors. Tourist dollars will help rebuild. I can not recommend these places more highly, the places and especially the people are amazing and welcoming.

You can have your South Pacific adventure and help the locals get back on their feet - Win / Win.
