The Swizzle Inn is a fun little bar near Castle Harbor, if I recall correctly. It's on the bus route so if you plan on swizzling you don't have to drive! It will probably be too cool to swim, but Tobacco Bay, which is near St. George, was fabulous. The water is sheltered and very salty, so you can float and relax. The King Henry Inn by the lighthouse had good food for lunch. The public bus system is wonderful. The last time we were there I was really intimidated by the traffic and I did not enjoy the scooter thing. When we go again we will get a pass so we can use the ferry and the busses multi-day. Bermuda is a lovely place, enjoy!

We rent scooters when in Key West so I feel fairly comfortable riding one....only time will tell how well
that goes LOL The ferry/bus pass is a great idea because I have a feeling there will be alot of alcohol consumption going on :pirate:
Will def try Swizzle Inn and King Henry Inn!
Thanks Colleen for the suggestions!!

I'd re-iterate the no scooter thing. I traveled there for business alot from 2006-2008 and I can't tell you the number of scooter accidents I saw. Maybe it was tourist season so there were more chances of collisions but it was just silly. They drive on the opposite side of the road from the US - that I'm sure factored into it.
Elbow Beach is great but I'm not sure if there is public beach access or if you need to be staying at the hotel.

What ever you do, have several Dark 'n Stormys.

I'm a little nervous about the opposite side of road driving, thanks for the advice!
Any good seafood places you would recommend?

I'm trying to think where I ate...the was a place called Barracuda's (http://www.barracuda-grill.com/index2.html) that was nice but it was probably expensive. If you want a pub/bar, I liked this place (http://www.robinhood.bm/). The restaurants at Elbow Beach (http://www.mandarinoriental.com/bermuda/) were great but also, might be expensive. Since I was working (and usually having dinner really late), being cost conscious wasn't always on my mind.

I lived in Bermuda 1982-1985 and I'd agree on taking the bus or cabs. I saw SO many accidents, many of them tourists. Part of the issue is that the roads have coral in them. Once the least bit wet they get a slime on them that's almost as slippery as ice. The roundabouts are also tough when on the wrong side of the road. Even when you're walking, be careful crossing the street. About once a year a tourist gets hit and sometimes killed because they looked left (like here) and started to cross. The traffic is coming from the right.... I've been gone to long too give much advice beyond the excellent comments already made: Swizzle Inn, Henry VIII, and Horseshoe Beach are musts! St. Georges is definitely worth the trip. Have a great time!!
