A-Rod (apart from that being an idiotic thing to call a grown man) has been overpaid and under-talented since he came up. I was out of baseball for quite a few years.....has he EVER played up to his paycheck?? He should ask that clinic for a refund, 'cause if that's enhanced, I have a shot at the show.
Yes, he's lived up to his paycheck. I mean NOBODY is worth that much money, but yes, he's played well enough to earn big money (PEDs aside)....
9 seasons hitting above .300 (once above .350)
8 seasons over 40 HRs, 3 above 50.
10th all time in runs scored
7th all time in RBI
318 career steals
3 MVP awards, finished top 5 in voting 3 other times.
2 Gold Gloves
12th all time in WAR, led league 9 times (if you belive in those stats)
Yes, he's an idiot and a juicer, but on-field performance, you can't deny he's been great. Just not any more.

He hasn't been AS great in the post-season, this is true. But his failures are far over-rated.
Career in the LCS:
29 games, .295 average, 7 home runs, 18 RBI.
Project that out to 162 games, he'd hit .295 with 39 HR and 101 RBI.
That's not up to his regular season standard, but it is far from suckage.
He's also 1 HR shy of being in the top 10 all time in postseason HRs. Again, doesn't make him great, but he's far from sucking.
And, I will give you that his 1 World Series appearance was less than awesome. (.250 with 1 HR, 6 RBI in 6 games.)
But if you take it in as a whole, he has not sucked. He has sucked LATELY (the last 4 years), but he has not sucked overall.

I went to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans game against the Winston-Salem Dash tonight and I saw something I don't think I've ever seen before. The Pelicans had men on second and third with one out. The batter hit a ground ball back to the pitcher, both Pelicans base runners took off and Winston-Salem got a double play - they got the 2 base runners in rundowns and made only one throw. The pitcher ran right at the runner who was on third, tagged him out, turned and threw to the 2nd baseman who got the other base runner in a rundown and tagged him without making a throw. Probably the worst piece of base running I've ever seen.

Not being a Yankees fan, I don't know if this is breaking news or not but I just heard on ESPN that Derek Jeter is probably going to be out until at least the All-Star break.

For those who may have been wondering, YES, Bryce Harper is the real deal.

By the way, when is the last time you saw a score of 15-4 in the 3rd inning?
Cleveland/Houston, right now.

15-6, still in the 3rd. This could be fun!

Never wondered. My current favorite possession is my
#34 Bryce Harper white home jersey that was a Father's Day present last year.
THIS year I want a road gray #34 with "Washington" across the chest.
Favorite moment last year? Bryce stealing home after being
beaned with a "welcome to the majors" pitch. (Okay 2nd favorite moment after Jason Werth's walkoff homerun in the playoffs).

18-6. Top 4th, nobody out. This really is sad and fun at the same time...

OK am I
A. a true fan
B. an old softy
they Giants are playing the D-backs, at home. the Diamond back pitcher hits his First homerun in the majors
the announcers are talking about a "business transaction" for the home run ball. if I catch it. I might ask for an
autographed Ball. or (probably) a photo with the Pitcher. is this too light a price? or would you ask for some $$$?

$$$ without a doubt ... $$$
Unless it was a NY Yankees pitcher,
in which case I'd ask for $$$x3
then change my mind
and
burn the ball in front of him
just
for spite.

He's a pitcher and it's his first major league home run. It doesn't really mean anything to anyone except him. I'd settle for some swag. Now if it was something historic, like if someone eventually breaks the 'Roid King's record, they'd have to pay up for that.

It was 15 years ago today...
The best pitching performance I have ever seen....
Kerry Wood. 20 years old. 5th Major League start. 1 hit (should have been scored an error). 0 walks. 20 strikeouts.
And the most viscious curveball I have ever seen:
