For those fans of other teams who are being so quick to jump all over the Ryan Braun story, let me say this:
Yes, he cheated. Worse, he got caught.
What do I mean by that?
Based on the current state of PEDs, you have to be unlucky enough to be tested within 24 hours of taking something these days. Based upon the frequency at which players are randomly tested, MLB believes that they are actually catching 1% of the people who are cheating. Let me repeat that....1%. Not counting other potential upcoming BioGenisis suspensions, there have been 35 players suspended by MLB in 8 years. That's an average of 4.5 players per year. Do the math, that means there are potentially 450 players or so who are cheating. There are 30 MLB teams with 25 players apiece. That's 750 players. That would make 60% of all players in the Major Leagues guilty of cheating.
Yes, what Braun did was wrong, but he is not alone. Cubs fans...Dodgers fans....fans of any team, if you think your heroes are clean, dream on. They just haven't been caught. Yet.
I followed it with this:
I looked it up...the suspensions that have been issued by MLB since the policy took effect have impacted 21 different MLB rosters. Biogenisis may increase this number. No team is clean, believe me.
The stat listed above does not include minor leaguers who have been suspended...

So this time he's fessing up to it? They must have something rock-solid, or he'd be appealing again.
Isn't that what this guy
said to that guy

The "everyone cheats" defense may make you feel better but it doesn't absolve blame.
Believe me I know, I'm a USC football fan.

I look at it this way , if any of us had the choice of making 50,000 working 9-5 5 days a week , or having the ability to play in the majors , and had the recourses to be great, and make millions , I think at least 99% of us would do it to. His mistake was the so called lies from last year.

Not trying to defend Braun, and not trying to absolve him of blame.
I'm simply trying to stem the tide of the overreactions that have been going on all day.
People are acting like he is a worse human that Aaron Hernandez.
No, he cheated. He got caught.
Lots of others cheat. They don't all get caught.
Don't treat him like a murderer or a rapist. He tried to take advantage of a system which is designed to allow cheaters to make a lot of money if they don't get caught (and even if they do). And he got caught.
Is he a bad person? Yes. But to make him out as the Anti-Christ is wrong. But that's all I've heard for the last 24 hours.

Jim...every Sports radio station I listened to has been crucifying the guy , and you have people looking to buy Hernandez Jerseys , like he's a cult hero.....people are quick to criticize , but , as I said, any one of us would of tried to beat the system if it meant millions in a payoff!!!...we have politicians who lie daily!!!.....but , depending on your party affiliation that's ok!!!

Of all of the things I have heard people say today, in regards to the Ryan Braun situation, the one that is p*** me off the most is this:
"What am I supposed to tell my children?"
Seriously? If you have to ask this question, you should have to give your kids back because YOU ARE A BAD PARENT!!!
First of all, you don't have to tell them anything....he's a baseball player, you don't need to teach them anything about him.
But you should. And if you haven't figured it out, you have just been handed, gift-wrapped, the PERFECT parenting opportunity!!! Sit your child down, and teach them why CHEATING IS BAD!!! Let them know that Ryan Braun cheated, and as a consequence, everybody hates him....he is no longer allowed to play baseball...and he is going to lose MILLIONS of dollars.
Teach your children, and quit whining about why it is so terrible for you.

I heard the same , players being role models , one host told a caller , if you're not your sons roll model , then you have bigger issues. We all have favorite players , and guys we emulated growing up. But roll models , no way

I heard that ARod will likely get the worst punishment, and it's for Obstruction.
Word is that he tried to buy all of the evidence back from Tony Bosch.

I rarely agree with anything Skip Clueless says, but I agree with what I just heard him say about Alex Rodriguez. He said he doesn't think in the history of sports there's ever been a more gifted, but more insecure, athlete.

Why has ESPN gone downhill?
They've chosen to anchor their daily lineup around the 2 most annoying men in sports broadcasting....Skip Brainless and Screamin' A Smith. There is nobody (ESPN's own Chris Berman included), that I would less like to watch and listen to than these two douchewaffles.
And now they've just re-hired Keith Olbermann....

Alex Rodriguez will most likely be banned for life so all you Yankee haters can relax.
(And why shouldn't he be banned for life after the injustice done to Pete Rose)?
As for E.S.P.N., those a-holes are well in my rear view mirror.
And who is "Skip"?

a friend of mine just got hired for security at ESPN. I asked him if he could keep Steven A Smith off the campus!!!...The sad thing is i live near ESPN and know a lot of there employers....non on air as of now ( i New Robin Roberts a little ,when she was there , and a couple of others , no big names)....but , i keep telling them why can't they just report the scores, and show highlights like they use to. I do like Outside the lines with Bob Ley ( original), and I do like PTI , but , most of the other shows i can't even watch. It will be interesting when FOX sports launches , and what approach they take.

I like Bob Ley, LOVE Robin Roberts, not crazy about Chris Berman.
Do you remember a guy from WAY back named Joe Bolster?

I'd rather listen to a continuous loop of Wham's greatest hit(s) than ever hear Chris Berman again. How does that fool still have a job?
