I like the interleague play, even though I was against it at first. If there wasn't, I'd never get to see half of the players in MLB.Lightning Bolt wrote:everything you said, Chip...spot onchippewa wrote:Playing 162 games only to be eliminated in a single game makes no sense to me. Up until about 15 minutes ago I hated it. I think I still do, but I see in the paper how, two & a half weeks before the end of the season, 10 of the 15 teams in the American League have a legitimate shot of making it to the world series.
That's a GOOD thing, right?
But I also don't want another full round of playoffs tacked on.
DON'T BECOME THE NBA!!! The NBA playoffs drag on for far too long. Don't do it!!!
I'd like to see a return to the 154-game schedule and eliminate inter-league play. Both worked for decades, but the owners would never give up the turnstile and TV money for 8 games.

I saw Sadaharu Oh play when I was stationed in Japan in 1972 & 1973. Quite a player. As a manager, he was so-so.CaptainP wrote:This guy was a total bust in MLB-

B.T.W., I'll be in Chicago for a few days next May when the Yankees play the Cubs at Wrigley Field and the White Sox at Comiskey Park. (I still call it that). They're also playing the Brewers in Milwaukee May 9th, 10th, & 11th. (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday).
Would you want to go to the Friday game, Jim?

Re: 2013 Baseball Thread
Last night, Chris Carter of the Astros became the 4th player in MLB history to strikeout 200 or more times in a season!!! (Mark Reynolds has done it 3 times). He has 11 games remaining to strike out 22 more times to get to the record held by Reynolds...

Jeez, not even Dave Kingman struck out 200 times.
(You remember Dave Kingman, right? 50 homers, 51 R.B.I., .200 batting average, 190-plus strikeouts)?
Hall of Fame credentials for sure.

Still trying to get used to the Houston Astros being in the American League.
Yankees will close out the 2013 season at Houston, and will open the 2014 season in Houston.
Dodgers and Diamondbacks will open the 2014 season March 22nd & 23rd in Sydney, N.S.W. Australia.
