Actually, yes. If Cleveland had lost yesterday, there would have been a 3-way tie for 2 spots, played out as follows:
-Rays v. Indians, winner is in/loser goes to Texas
-loser v. Rangers, winner is in/loser goes home
-the two winners from above play each other in the 1-game 1st round.

That WOULD spice things up a bit, eh?

I've got to say, now that my Yankees are out, I really wouldn't mind seeing an Oakland/Dodgers world series. Two west coast teams--GOD, how the networks would hate that.

Brewers vs. Royals would've been great. Two small market teams NOT in the eastern time zone.
But I AM happy for the Pirates and hope they do well.

Cubs dismiss Sveum after two seasons

CHICAGO -- When Dale Sveum was named the Cubs' 52nd manager in November 2011, Theo Epstein, president of baseball operations, and general manager Jed Hoyer said they were impressed by how prepared he was.

"I think the passion he has for the game is so obvious -- and the knowledge he has," Hoyer said at that time. "It wasn't that he prepared for the interview; he prepared for this [job]. This is what he had done his whole life."

Now, Sveum will have to find a new team as the Cubs dismissed him on Monday morning.

Red Sox and I don't care who they play!!!

networks probably want Sox - Dodgers

Sox - Braves would have some historic meaning , being the Braves were once from Boston

Royals stay course, ink Yost to two-year extension

KANSAS CITY -- After guiding the Royals to their best record in 24 years, Ned Yost was rewarded on Tuesday with a two-year contract extension through the 2015 season.

Yost's contract expired this season but his return was a foregone conclusion since general manager Dayton Moore spoke last Wednesday during a series at Seattle.
