How I Met Your Mother's Robin character revealed tonight her dad is a Parrothead and made several Buffett related comments in case anyone wants to see it...just an FYI.

Just watching it now! Yep. Dad says their dance at her wedding had to be to CIP. Good grief!
Bob and our keet are dancing to Little Miss Magic.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Would they just hurry up and confirm that the mother is Barney's sister because everyone knows it anyways and be done with it. That show has gone on at least 3 seasons too long.

That show has definitely jumped the shark. (so has that phrase  ). But after yesterday it would appear that the mother will be the bass player in Robin's wedding band.

I holding out for Barney's sister. (The whole "Aunt Robin" thing they have been slamming down our throats for years. Also Ted and Barney being bros . . .that Barney's sister went to Ted's college and that the mother was in his class . . . Etc).

My best friends' kids all call me Aunt Lala or Lesley.

I don't understand how Barney's sister would show up to the wedding and have lived in NYC this whole time and wouldn't have previously met Ted and the rest of the crew.
I knew this girl made of memories and phrases, who lived her whole life in both chapters and stages.
Danced 'til the dawn, wished all her worries away.

She's a long way from a West Nashville grand ballroom gown.

And, by coincidence, would've been roommate with Ted's girlfriend.

There was a episode where Ted dated this girl , i think it was the yellow umbrella one , at the end he was in her bedroom, and there was a bass guitar in there , and it was her roommate's, who played in a band.

Right. All further negating the possibility that it's Barney's sister, unless it's a long lost sister, at which point, I'll smack the writers. :o

First of all it is Barney's half sister who he has never met. The writers referenced her at least twice that I can think of and they made it a point of stating that she was a student at the college where Ted teaches and that she has an apartment in Manhattan. I can easily see Ted's wife (or the mother of his kids atleast) being Barney's half sister. Because this is a sitcom (why you people would try to make a sitcom like How I Met Your Mother make sense when it is absurd beyond belief to begin with makes me question all of your combined sanity this winter) I can further see Barney's sister being the bass player in the band who plays at his wedding and through this fate or "sitcom magic" 8) he gets the family he always wanted. I bet his father who basically disowned him shows up at the wedding.

And sure I have called people Auntie who weren't actually blood relatives but from a writer's stand point I view this as a clue because this sh*t aint Shakespeare or Updike or even Chabon or Franzen. It is a stupid as$ sitcom that I watched because Barney on occasion makes me laugh and other than cartoons and The Big Bang Theory and Colbert nothing on tv makes me laugh so my DVR is set to record it.

Barney's half sister being the "proverbial mother" is pretty darn crazy and far fetched but it would make more sense than LOST's and Seinfeld's finales by alot. :D

I'm still not over either one of those things, but then, I'm still mad at JJ about the whole time travel ending to Felicity and that was in 2002. I'm hoping he'll redeem himself Friday.
