Re: Buffett's New Album!
Well we don't know the album release date yet ....
but he did say he was going into the studio after these 3 Florida shows
and that both the album and the 2013 tour were tentatively called
"Songs From St. Somewhere"

I hope he puts more work into the music than he did into coming up with the title.

Re: Buffett's New Album!
Songs from St Somewhere is a nice title, and for me, fitting right now as I really would love to fly to St Somewhere away from the cold and the snow. I'm looking forward to the new album.

Re: Buffett's New Album!
I hope he goes a little old school on this one...a few throw back styled songs with 3/4 time or changes influences. Yes I'm old but I think that's what has been missing in the last albums.
If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane ...

Is this new material or a compilation of old songs?

Re: Buffett's New Album!
I wouldn't hold my breath. I've been hoping Buffett would return to the style of his earlier albums (meaning A White Sportcoat and A Pink Crustacean, Living and Dying in ¾ Time, A1A, etc.) for quite some time now but to his credit, he continues to push onward and upward, often with very mixed results. That isn't always a good thing as sometimes it leads to him trying his hand at rap and very cringeworthy efforts such as "Party At the End of the World" (yes, I realize some people like that song but I don't count myself among them). To his credit, at least he can't be accused of relying on his laurels. For instance, I never would have thought a song like "Mademoiselle Voulez-Vous Danser" with a heavy dance beat would have worked for him but given the subject matter of the tune, he's actually able to pull it off.JollyMon66 wrote:I hope he goes a little old school on this one...a few throw back styled songs with 3/4 time or changes influences. To the best of my knowledge it's a new album however I could understand why someone would think it's a compilation with a title like "Songs From St. Somewhere". I know it's not a very popular opinion but I believe it to be the least inspired album title of his entire career. Your observation only helps to reinforce that belief. However, it doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be a bad record. I'll make that call once I actually hear it. Even though I tend to be more of a fan of his earlier work, I usually have no problem finding something to like about his latter day stuff.Utvolzac wrote:Is this new material or a compilation of old songs?
Re: Buffett's New Album!
It is a brand new album but Jimmy is also reportedly been working on project to release some re-discovered lost songs called "Buried Treasure". However there is now word on the status of that projectUtvolzac wrote:Is this new material or a compilation of old songs?

Re: Buffett's New Album!
If there is "now" word on the progress of Buried Treasure, what is it? Since we haven't heard a thing about it since that 2011 USA Today article I figured it had joined the fate of Coastal Confessions and other projects he's mentioned but never actually delivered.urlcenter wrote:It is a brand new album but Jimmy is also reportedly been working on project to release some re-discovered lost songs called "Buried Treasure".
