The Edgewater Hotel is on the water, built on a pier: http://www.edgewaterhotel.com/
The Seattle Marriott Waterfront is across the street from the water: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/s ... aterfront/
This tripadvisor site has a pretty good summary of Seattle lodging choices: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g6087 ... attle.html

We've stayed at the Edgewater, it's built out on a pier so you are right on the water. Not a lot of amenities but it was very nice and walkable to many downtown sights. I'd stay there again. It's where the Beatles stayed, a maid let us tour the suite after the previous guests checked out.
