A good buzz before the show is more or less on the "adequate " tailgating level as far as I am concerned. For Buffett, to reach the "effective" level (which is a far cry from "legendary" or even "outstanding" or simply "fab" levels) one must yearn for and achieve something beyond a buzz . . . perhaps not a religious experience (like seeing Great Woods Buffett for the first time in the 90's) but something that fringes upon something spiritual - like some perky boob exposure (on a woman this time . . . ) or some of Dave's bbq.

Definitely interested in going. Good chance to visit some friends I haven't seen since I used to live in DC.

Perky boob exposure allows for .....breast shark!

I can hardly wait to paint my first one this year.

Hey all,

I'm a Philadelphia Parrothead. The reason i'm writing is that my fellow flockers and I are looking to go to the VA beach show. We were wondering if anyone has put together a bus trip or bus/hotel package for this show. maybe in the past, or they are doing it again this year. Our show in Camden was just announced, but many of us can't attend due to vacations, etc. Any info you can provide would be great.

From the photos on the Farm Bureau Live website it looks like there are only actual seats. Is there a lawn area? What is the tailgating policy. Need info before I make the commitment to drive all the way from Philly.

There is most definitely a lawn. Take a look on Google Earth, ya can't miss it.

Looking at doing Va. Beach this year for the first time. With tickets going on sale on a Friday, I was wondering how quickly this venue sells out. I may not be able to get tix until later in the day. If anyone can let me know any info on this and maybe any other info on the venue, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Can't help much on that, as I've never been there. From what I've heard, it's your basic 20k seat amphitheater. Wish I could help more.

Where's everyone staying? I had points to use ("free" is our friend!) so my PHC buds and I will be at the Springhill Suites on Newtown Road. It's about 12 miles from venue.

Would anyone be interested in going to the actual beach on Sunday for lunch or something? Seems a shame to be that close to a beach without putting our toes in some sand!

Was wondering if ScarletB or anyone else called the venue back for tailgate info, like gate opening times?

In regards to the tailgating, I called Friday and they said they have no info on what time the parking lots will be opening. That's about all I got from them

I'd like to try this venue since my usual, Camden, is on a Tuesday but I need info on the tailgating situation before Friday when tickets go on sale. I left a voicemail for the general mgr yesterday but don't really expect a return phone call or even a voicemail. Who has experience at this venue?

I just spoke w/receptionist at venue. She said the doors to the venue will open at 6 but not yet determined when parking lots will be opened because it varies depending upon the performer. I didn't even mention Buffett's name and she said there are meetings scheduled over the next couple of days w/city planners, police, etc to determine when lots will be opened for his concert. She said pop-up tents are permitted provided you don't take up any space other than your own. I said I would like to know more info before tickets go on sale on Friday and she suggested I call back on Thursday.

I have not been to this venue either, but I have a friend who has attended. She said the parking lots opened at 4:00 last year. No more info than that, and that doesn't mean that's how this year will work either.

As far as the hotel goes, we will be staying at the Quality Inn on the beach. If anyone is staying there, please let me know. Would like to meet some new parrothead friends.

Just spoke w/receptionist at venues. She said no definite time has been established for opening the parking lots but probably the earliest will be 2:00 p.m. She also said they usually open the lots only 2 hours before show time. I was considering this since the show is on a Saturday but it is not worth my driving time, gas and hotel $.
