Wonder if Jimmy is still in the process of fixing the tailgating issue there . . . like he said he would .
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

With the exception of not being able to put tents or umbrellas up in the parking lots, the tailgate issue has been resolved. Was it as good as it used to be? No. Was it close? From my perspective, having seen him there every year since 1998, yes.drunkpirate66 wrote:Wonder if Jimmy is still in the process of fixing the tailgating issue there . . . like he said he would .

No tarps. No creativity. No space. No time.
No side stages. No tiki bars. No fun.
Damb near bumper-to-bumper parking.
Was limited to "4 hours" which in reality became
about 2 hours by the time you could get parked.
No thank you.

I was there in 2008 and I think it was the first year they cracked down on alcohol in the parking lots.
There seemed to be a lot of ticked off people for a Buffett show tailgate.

(they decided that year ... after tickets were sold ... to totally enforce a no tailgating policy and wouldn't even allow you to stay with your vehicle)
.... the alcohol policy was reasonable.
As long as you were of age and drinking from a red cup,
and were not falling down intoxicated, all was fine.
Ice luges were okay. Beer pong was okay. Corn hole games were everywhere.
Heck ... stripper poles
Plus the lots were accessible shortly after noon.
Now there is limited tailgating. Parking is strict. No canopies. You barely have room for a chair or two.
Forget any creativity (stripper poles, elaborate tiki bars, sand beaches).
You get just a small grill and room for a couple of chairs in the August heat and sun with no canopies.
Forget it.

Agree with Bob.......Went to ZBB in October for the first time since all this started. Besides being with dear friends......it su**ed! JLL is dead to me.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Re: Bristow, VA
I to agree with y'all. We didn't go in 2011 due to the strict tailgating rules that JLL was enforcing. They gave a bunch of lame excuses and realized in the end, their loss of money. 2012 came around and amazing those strict rules seem to be lifted, but with some certain dumb a** rules still to be applied. Surf Pirate said it correctly about the tailgating rules and if you haven't been to JLL, then I'd recommend you to get on the net site and read the rules for yourself. We did go in 2012 and of all the years the we've been going to see Buffett, that had to be our worst experience ever. This year is up in the air, however we are going to the Virginia beach show in July. Good luck to all of you

There were stripper poles. Hmmm.... I dont remember that. Next thing youll be spouting off is that there was a magical place called the Cove were we all gathered to tailgate under the cover of trees.surfpirate wrote:Up until the 2011 hijacking of any and all tailgating,LiveandletLiver wrote:I was there in 2008 and I think it was the first year they cracked down on alcohol in the parking lots.

We're glad we got there the year before all the tailgating "issues" and were privvy to the stripper pole (even the AARP users), meeting THE SP and a few other BNers, even if it was on Thursday

Re: Bristow, VA
I'm torn as to go back this year or not. I'm thinking that I may fork out the bucks for good seats......and call it a day. I've been to enough shows, and the last few years I've just been going for the tailgating more than the concert. Take that away, and I question whether to bother.
