Do you eat pizza with or without a plate?

My fiance and I ordered pizza this afternoon. I brought it in and set it on the coffee table. Next thing I know he's carrying it away. I asked him where he was going with it, and he said the kitchen. "Oh great, now I have to keep getting up and down" "Sorry to inconvenience you, why don't you get a plate?"

Growing up we brought the pizza box with us into the living room and ate it without plates... I thought everyone did that

To add to the whole "NY Pizza Experience" you should have to blot it with a napkin first too! I grew up eating pizza this way.

Only time I use a plate is when I'm at a pizza buffet; otherwise it's right from the box or metal pan with a napkin handy in case I have to set the piece down for some reason (like to get a fresh beer).
As far as folding it up, though — FEHH!!  If you want pizza rolls, they're made by Totino's and they're in your grocer's freezer.

mo, there's a place less than 2 miles from me that makes such good pizza I went there for lunch this past Wednesday instead of going to Hooters for Wednesday Wingsday.

And Mo, Rocco's in my town has a nice thin soft crust foldable pizza. Tell them I sent you, it will give them a chuckle.

I'm just saying that there's no reason to put the pizza down on a plate between bites when still have to hold the plate. I don't understand what purpose the plate serves.

To catch crumbs, juice, greasy drippings, etc? Although if the boobies are big enough perhaps the plate would not be necessary.

Maybe to keep your hands clean so your glass doesn't slip out of your hands?
