Nautical Wheelers in Bristow, VA Petition
Dear Jimmy,
I write to you today to ask that you play Nautical Wheelers on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, VA. It is a song that holds a special place in my heart and the infrequent appearances it makes in your setlists leads me to believe I may never get to hear it live and in person.
This will be my 16th Jimmy Buffett show, a number that pales in comparison to those who frequent Buffett News. However, considering my age, location and financial status, it is an impressive number. I brought my oldest daughter and her teddy bear to see you at the ripe age of 1.5. I look forward to bringing her and her younger sister back when they are older now that I have the benefit of hindsight regarding that decision.
My campaign to hear Nautical Wheelers played live dates back to my first Buffett concert in 1999, two years after it was last played in the Washington, DC area. It started small by shouting from the crowd. Years later, around 2006-2007, my stated desire moved more publicly to the Internet via Buffett News and has taken on various forms ranging from sabotaging others' posts with thinly veiled suggestions in an attempt to thinly coat the field, pointed posts and posts with misleading topics intending to bait people into learning of my plea. However, my campaign has always been less than pointed. I have decided that it is time for me to coordinate a more focused approach. I have no direct line to get the message to you myself; I only have this forum to make my request heard. My hope is that with the support from the BN community and any within your inner circle who may come across this, that the request will make its way to you.
Nautical Wheelers has become synonymous with FunkHouse9 here on BN. Whenever you play it live in another town, someone in the setlist threads inevitably brings up my name. When people hear it in their cars, they call me. When cover bands play it, people send me videos. Others wake me at odd hours of the night with text messages taunting me with the lyrics of the song I long to hear live in person. At times it feels good to know that so many people here are behind me on this. Other times it has felt as though I have become a punchline. I am a good sport about it though.
I am not asking that you play this for me. With the support that I have gotten from so many here on BN in the past, as well as the support I hope to continue to receive, it has become something larger than any one person. For that reason, I make my case that you play Nautical Wheelers in Bristow, VA this year as a direct or indirect acknowledgement that you know that we at BN are out here living the life and singing the songs that have gotten you and us where we are today. Play it for us.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Sincerely,
FunkHouse9

Is this another movement? Are we going to have to deal with politicians?

I agree and would like to make a motion that this thread appear in every forum on the Buffettnews discussion board. Can I get someone to second my motion?
