Here is another video of NW from last night.

Just beautiful, Jeff...I'm really happy for you.FunkHouse9 wrote:I cried. I really was so caught off guard because I never really believed it would happen. He said something about "it's been a lovely cruise" and I told myself "that's that." Then I heard him say petition and I kind of cracked. My buddy had wandered off a couple songs before and didn't find his way back until after the lights came up, so I was on the lawn by myself trying to get a video of it with my hands shaking and just basking in the moment.
When I got home, I saw that Jim Mayer had replied with just a smilie face to my message to him on Twitter to tell Jimmy about the petition. Glad I didn't see it until after because it was much better being a surprise.
You can barely tell from the photo Conched posted, but to the bottom left, the video backdrop even said Nautical Wheelers.
Jimmy, this was off the charts...you are the best!Jim Buffett wrote:![]()

As long as you are still basking in the euphoria of the moment, do you feel comfortable sharing with us just why this song is so special to you?funkhouse9 wrote:Dear Jimmy,
I write to you today to ask that you play Nautical Wheelers on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, VA. It is a song that holds a special place in my heart and the infrequent appearances it makes in your setlists leads me to believe I may never get to hear it live and in person.
Wrong.FunkHouse9 wrote: You all kept it fun when it certainly could have been annoying and pathetic.
1. Uncle Jim is one of my favorite people on the planet.FunkHouse9 wrote:I got another response from Jim Mayer after I thanked him for helping the cause.

I am grateful to a lot of people here for humoring me through all of this and for many who assisted in furthering the cause, backstreets77, jbfinscj, bodypainter and others. Especially, SMLCHNG for making this a "sticky" and surfpirate for busting my ba... promoting the cause through BN Critters. You all kept it fun when it certainly could have been annoying and pathetic.
Shoot, it was nuttin'. Really, I just pushed a button.FunkHouse9 wrote: I am grateful to a lot of people here for humoring me through all of this and for many who assisted in furthering the cause, backstreets77, jbfinscj, bodypainter and others. You're right that it was fun. I'm glad it didn't become annoying. I think that's because I started a thread and kept it in here. I used to post it randomly in other threads and started a handful of one-off's and let them crash and burn which would be funny at first, but the gag could easily have gotten old quick. I don't deserve to hear my song any more than anyone else does. One guy openly begging for special treatment among an audience that skews more toward obsessive than annual with little chance that Jimmy would stumble on it himself certainly could be seen as annoying. I'm sure there were some eye rolls along the way. Although it's been a busy summer for me, I tried to keep the thread active even though it was a sticky. Instead of "bumping" (unnecessarily) the thread, I tried to make some funny pictures, etc. Did I want to hear the song? Of course! Did I think he'd end up playing it in March when I started this? No. But I've heard him play it spontaneously when people yell it. He can't hear me yelling "Nautical Wheelers" from the cheap seats (I'll always remember the look on BraveDave's face when I tried to get him to yell with me in PGH '07 from far away). So, I wanted to try. The best case scenario was that he played it. The worst case is that we have another Dating a T-shirt style thread that pops up once in a while.Rabbitz wrote:Wrong.FunkHouse9 wrote: You all kept it fun when it certainly could have been annoying and pathetic.
Wrong.
Wrong.
It was not annoying and pathetic.
It was a fun, quirky, friendly ride.
I wish there was a good story. There isn't. Out of all of his songs, there was just something about it that makes me warm and tingly inside, particularly the last few lines. No deep meaning. No tie into something from my life. It doesn't take me off to a beach or back to a certain point in my life. Nothing more than loving the song and feeling good when I hear it. I love the song for the song.Bicycle Bill wrote:As long as you are still basking in the euphoria of the moment, do you feel comfortable sharing with us just why this song is so special to you?funkhouse9 wrote:Dear Jimmy,

If not, just say so. I'd be OK with it either way.
