This is a bike-friendly town, and also a naked-friendly town, and the two come together Saturday in the World Naked Bike Ride, SF spring edition. The ride is a big, bright, glittery, sometimes pasty — but always very visible — protest against oil dependency and motor vehicle usage.
UPDATE: In response to some commenters’ concerns over the changes in the legality of public nudity in SF, I’ll include this from the WNBR website: “Liberal San Francisco is not so liberal anymore with the passage of an anti-nudity ordiance that went into effect on February 1st, 2013. This will be a test to see how far we can push the limits. If you go naked, it helps to have a protest message to go with the nudity in the form of body painted slogans or signs. Be prepared to cover up. So far, the authorities have been nice in giving people an opporunity to cover up before giving out citations. Bare breasts are okay. To be legal, you just need to barely cover your genitals and rectum. Going naked outside the main group will definately get you cited. There’s more safety in numbers.”

So *THAT'S* what it's all about. I've seen pictures of this before, and here I thought it was merely a bunch of screwballs who just wanted to show off their junk. -"BB"-

Jeez, I thought it was a liberal city. What do you mean I have to keep my rectum covered?
