This happened on my island city today
I never thought I would see something like this happen on my tiny little island in the middle of nowhere. I guess it can even happen to us here in the Southernmost City. From the city webpage.
" The Key West Fire Department’s HAZMAT team is decontaminating over a dozen people at the Key West Post Office on Whitehead Street as part of a precautionary protocol for a possible suspicious substance. Several people have been transported to Lower Keys Medical Center as an added precaution.
Emergency responders were notified at about 12:47 that a package with a threatening note and suspicious substance was received at the post office. Police have cordoned off the perimeter of the property and the 400 block of Whitehead Street. The evacuation and decontamination of those inside is a slow process, and the post office will not reopen this afternoon.
Once the evacuation is complete, HAZMAT teams will enter the building to determine the threat.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area because of traffic congestion.
Any questions should be referred to the FBI, as they are the lead agency. "

What surprises me the most is that Cayo Hueso has a Hazmat team....

After 9/11 the Federal government, through those Homeland Security grants, was handing out money like it was going out of style. You'd be surprised to see what some small communities in the heartland of America asked for and got as part of the federal giveaways.Rabbitz wrote:What surprises me the most is that Cayo Hueso has a Hazmat team....
