Seen:
Bruce Springsteen (too many times to count, starting in 1975, at multiple venues, incl. Stone Pony)
Paul McCartney
Ringo Starr
Yes
Todd Rundgren
Steve Forbert
David Bromberg multiple times
Joseph Cotton Band
Grateful Dead (but I forget how many times, man ....)
The Judds
The Willie Nelson Band
Alan Jackson
Garth Brooks
Frank Sinatra
Peter Allan
Firefall
Pure Prairie League
Poco
The Chieftains
Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes
The Smithereens
The Red Hot Chili Peppers
Dispatch
The Allmann Brothers
Rat Dog
George Thoroughgood
Peter Frampton
Bob Dylan (worst concert I have ever attended)
Neil Young
Crosby Stills and Nash
America (of course)
James Taylor (best male singer evahhhhhhhh love him!!)
That country chick who sings "Let Freedom Ring ..." -- oh yeah, Martina McBride
Jackson Brown
Yanni (yes, that's right, Yanni. I am very eclectic!)
The Sonny Kenn Band
Edgar Winter
The Beach Boys (many times, the best was on the beach in Atlantic City in 1980)
Boston
Styx
I am missing some, can't remember at the moment ...
Have seen and will continue to see whenever possible: Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band
As for other future concerts, not really into being in crowds unless they are drunken parrot heads. However, every Wednesday night in the summer I go to a free beach concert with well-known local bands like Brian Kirk and the Jerks, the Shots, and Tim McCloone and the Shirleys. We call it Sandy Hookstock. The beach is packed with picnicking locals, the 50/50 usually goes off for at least $5000. , and the money goes to the Sandy Hook Foundation. Nothing like dancin on the beach as the sun sets and the moon rises! Happiness ...

Re: concerts WE have seen and want to see
These lists really aren't all that surprising, which I thought was part of the question.
Of all the concerts I've seen I can really only think of two that might surprise folks here and those are Huey Lewis and the News and Duran Duran. The Huey show was free. When I was in college radio back in the early 80's we often got comp tix, which was the case with Huey. It's probably not something I'd do again but I enjoyed it. The Duran Duran concert falls under the "things we do for love" category. Not something I would ever do again. It wasn't unbearable, just not my cup of tea at all.
As for future concert I might attend that would surprise people, I really have no idea.

Artists I've Seen
all when I was in college -
Jethro Tull
Yes
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
beat me now
Madeleine Peyroux
Luke Bryan (since I lived in NY my whole life until 5 months ago and it isn't exactly a hotbed of country music)
Artists I'd Like To See
I agree with Diana Krall
Brad Paisley (I've seen him twice on Good Morning America's summer concert series and I liked him so I think I'd like to see a real concert)
Artists I've Met
I've "met" several artists briefly after shows - to get an autograph, take a picture - things like that. But to actually have a conversation with them, Doyle Grisham is about the only one.

I ran into Brad Paisley in Nashville; no really, he was walking out the door and I was on my way in

Re: concerts WE have seen and want to see
Several years ago I saw Tina Turner. Joe Cocker opened for Tina and at the tender age of 68 (at least I think that's how old he was), he ROCKED! It was a great, high energy concert.
The other concert that may be surprising is Alice Cooper. Saw him in VA. It was quite a spectacle.
I would like to see The Rolling Stones. Last time they came to Charlotte, ticket prices started at $250.00 which I find ridiculous.

I don't think anyone I've seen in concert or want to see would surprise anyone. It is a pretty diverse list.

Re: concerts WE have seen and want to see
i have such a list...that goes all over the place. If they're old-line country, I've probably seen them. If they're at the Opry, I've probably seen them. If they're big-hair metal, I've probably seen them! And if they're old time "Top 40", I've probably seen them, too. Although my favorites remain Vince Gill, John Denver, Jimmy Buffett, Mac McAnally, Bon Jovi, Count Basie and Maynard Ferguson!

The three Artists I have seen that would possibly fall into the "surprise" category would be: Tom Waits, Dolly Parton, and Johnny Mathis. I have seen over a hundred other concerts and my list is pretty similar to the lists everyone else posted.
