LIPH wrote:I have mixed feelings about this. I posted on FB last night that part of me wanted someone to put a bullet between his eyes but part of me wanted him taken alive. A lot of people said they wanted him alive so they could find out why he and his brother did this. That would be pretty low on my list of questions. The first 2 things I'd want to know are: 1. Were other people involved or did these 2 d-bags work alone?, and 2. Did they have other targets or was the Boston Marathon the only plan they had? And I'd be willing to bet there were other targets. With a$$holes like this, in my opinion, it's not a question of if they'll do it again, it's when they'll do it again.
I think i'd reverse the questions, i'd want to know for peoples safety, are there other targets ,and bombs ,out there.

i wanted them both alive , just to put them through the hell, they put other people, the city of Boston ,and surrounding towns through. And to get answers.

Isn't it amazing, my long time friend, what people can accomplish when they aren't sitting around on the Internet all week promoting their own meaningless political ideologies liked trained sheep? Amazing teamwork and execution. The best of America in response to an evil act.

I loved that the NYPD came up and BBQ'd for all the Boston responders, keeping them fed throughout the search.

Watertown police chief being interviewed on CNN right now. Very informative.
Brothers actually told the guy that they kidnapped and let go that they were
the marathon bombers and had killed a cop. They also threw, among other
explosives, another pressure cooker bomb at police that exploded. So family,
friends, and others who think these guys were 'set up' by the government
or FBI or whatever can just 'stick it'. :pirate:

Some really interesting posts here.

An Aussie takes it upon himself to condemn our legal system when it's working exactly like it should. News reporters and posters ITT aren't the one's deciding his fate. He was arrested taken to the hospital and the justice system is working He will be treated according to US law which has more checks and balances than most systems around the world. If this happens in most countries the guy's dead already or would be within a week.

I'm still not tracking what 66 want's. Does he think the bombings were socially driven because of lack of effort on the public's part or is he just using it as an excuse to call us all to community action? Either way it's kind of a weird concept to use this as an excuse.

Actually I have nothing but praise for those who are on the front line defending our societies. I am not there and do not have any real information.

What does worry me is that, without due process being fulfilled, this individual is being considered, by the media, to be guilty of everything that has happened. I would assume the authorities are taking this individuals rights seriously, and if he is convicted I hope that he gets whatever is coming.

Until then, as a civilised society, a little restraint should be shown and no-one should assume he is guilty. The case looks strong, very strong, and I doubt that there will be any other verdict, but it is not a fait accompli.

My comments about trusting the FBI were actually a metaphor asking if you had stopped to consider if you trust everything they say on this incident, then, do you trust them on everything? If you do why not just let them be the judge & jury as well? If you aren't willing to let them be the judge & jury on everything, then it is better to let due process occur. Those processes work pretty well, if politicians and the media keep their grubby little hands out of the system.

Interesting debate with valid points being made for and against
the decision to invoke the public safety exception regarding his Miranda rights.

On the other side of the coin
there are people who are blasting the "liberal media"
for using the word "alleged" in their coverage.

People hear what they want to hear
and often are deaf to what contradicts their opinions.

I'm not going to requote everything so...

In answer to Rabbitz the police and FBI did their job and will present evidence to the courts where either a judge or a jury of peers will consider the evidence and judge the case on it's merits. If a potential juror is interviewed by the court and tells them he believes the FBI is always right he will be excused as would one who thinks they are never right. It's how American jurisprudence works. Media poisoning the well with reporting is always an issue and many times a change of venue is used to make the trial as fair as possible. In this case that will be tough. 12 people will be found that haven't made up their minds. I guarantee it.

I have no problem with the "alleged" as it's driven by fear of legal action for by the arrested person or their family. It's like every disclaimer or chironed out face on TV, it's cause by a tort happy society. Besides that he is alleged until convicted.

Couple who inspired Boston Marathon bombing film 'Stronger' to divorce

The real-life couple whose relationship inspired a film about their romance amid the tragedy of the Boston Marathon bombing is getting divorced. Jeff Bauman lost both of his legs in the 2013 attack while waiting for his then-girlfriend, Erin Hurley, to finish the race.7 hours ago.

I was there when the term "Parrot Head" was coined in 1985 at the Timberwolf Amphitheater in Cincinnati, Ohio.

I was Buffett when Buffett wasn't cool.
