Good evening all,
As always I turn to thebetsy crowd on the net to help me solve my life issues.I am getting married next April 26, 2014 and I'm doing tons of research to try and figure out where we are going to go on our honeymoon. We are looking at costa rica and Belize right now but we are really open to anything. We are looking at these too bases off many friend recommendations. We have been to st John and st Thomas but that's about it in the Caribbean. The problem is we travel for work and stay in a lot of nice hotels on someone else's dime, so we know nice luxury and good service and really want that in a hotel, however we have a budget and sometimes can't afford what we really want. We are looking at hotels now that are in the 300 to 500 per night range and we can handle that. We cold potentially do more than that if it was really nice and maybe was all inclusive or partially inclusive. In a vacation we want a lot of the traditional things , we want nice beaches , beautiful views , great service , plentiful drinks, decent night life , relaxation , prefer no kids but we can cel with that, fun activities ( we get bored sitting by the pool for too long) . We want a truly unique memorable experience , what's your best idea? We are currently considering Los altos de Eros in costa rica if anyone is familiar with that. What we don't want is an ultra remote purely relaxation/romance resort. We want things to do and a lively ( not party) atmosphere. Maybe some cultural things mixed in and hiking or atv rides all that good stuff plus of course snorkeling/scuba and all that good stuff , ok go? Thanks everyone in advance.

If you're in hotels all the time, do something different. I've never been, but it's on my list. Might take some research for reviews.

Have you thought about chartering a sailboat? Having done some sailing in the Carribbean I can say it is definitely romantic, active, relaxing, fun, etc.....

Check out the Victoria House on Ambergris Caye in Belize. It may be what you are looking for.

I would also recommend Hamanisi in Southern Belize, however it may be too secluded for what you are looking for. I have stayed there and I would suggest a Treehouse instead of their beachfront rooms. Trust me!

My vote, St Barth! It is a beautiful island that you can explore freely without hesitation. The thrill starts with the flight to the island and just goes from there. Numerous hikes, many beaches, nightlife and with your budget I think you could find a great place to stay at.
Car rental a must but how else are you going to explore without one, right?

There is a wonderful forum that has a ton of info and experienced travelers to SB. Let me know if you think this might be interested.

Congrats to both of you too!!

Bahamas. Short direct flights. All the activities. You can choose quiet, romantic or bustling, touristy. Safe as kittens no matter where you go.

Chartering a sailboat in the BVI is always a blast! We spent 10 days on Virgin Gorda in December at Nail Bay Resort- VG is definitely quiet, relaxing, the beaches are beautiful... but there isn't a ton of nightlife if that's what you were looking for. This was my 9th visit and every time I go I am always in awe of how it doesn't really change, it's always amazing. Congratulations!

I usually go to Aruba a couple times a year, fantastic place for vacations and honeymoons. Your time frame is right at the end of the high season and you could probably get a decent deal. The Marriott, Radisson and new Ritz are all good options in the high rise area. For a "no kids" experience the Bucuti is a great option in the low rise area. There are a slew of fantastic restaurants on the island, the local beer is good, the local rum is excellent, a number of good dive shops and the snorkeling is quite good if you know where to go. The locals are extremely friendly and it's one of the safest places I've ever visited.

If you want any more info, let me know. I could go on for hours about the island.

Nassau or Paradise Island. Just a comfy vacation. Lots of good beach resorts.

We also loved Costa Rica at Arenal Volcano --Hotel Mountain Paradise has great cottages. We combined with trip to cloud forest Monteverde and zip lines. Nice boutique hotel--Poco a Poco. Great little town. Fun adventures. Hummingbirds, butterflies
