Bang on THIS
Okay, I for one loved the opening setlist but that bloody "Bang on the Drum" better NOT be a pre show song fixture.
Play it at Alpine, fine..for all those ch**seheads. But..it better not play in Chicago or Detroit. I want to mentally go where its warm, not a Wisconsin cornfield.

I like Bang On The Drum and I hope he keeps it as the opener. I never liked Hot Hot Hot and I thought it had worn out its welcome a long time ago.

You don't have to edit "cheeseheads" ... that's not a dirty word (unless you're a FIB).Finnsaremorefun wrote:Okay, I for one loved the opening setlist but that bloody "Bang on the Drum" better NOT be a pre show song fixture.

And even though Alpine may be parked in the middle of a cornfield, you notice Jimmy keeps coming back?

They're just bent because they play it after Packer touchdowns (and they've been hearing it quite a bit in recent years)!

I think that opening with something by Ralph would be a great gesture...

You have to admit that JB using a Todd Rundgren song for his opener was kinda interesting....

Re: Bang on THIS
Our personal favorites are the trop rock themed songs. Which is why we went crazy about the new song Jimmy did with Mishka, Ocean Is My Potion. Can't hear it enough^^
Liked HOT HOT HOT for an opening. VERY SAD he isn't using it this tour. We're not that much into country music and would like to see more of the tropical feel come back especially with the name of the tour being, Songs From St Somewhere. We're hoping he wrote a new tropical song or two for the tour.

I'm curious as to when Todd Rundgren's "Bang the Drum All Day" became "country" music.KruzinParrots wrote:Our personal favorites are the trop rock themed songs. Which is why we went crazy about the new song Jimmy did with Mishka, Ocean Is My Potion. Can't hear it enough^^

I consider the tropical angle to definitely be a part of what informs Buffett's music but when it comes to writing new songs, I'm hoping he isn't working up stuff ("tropical" or otherwise) just for the tour. I hope he's doing what feels right to him, no matter what it sounds like.

Re: Bang on THIS
It's very interesting though that Todd is going tropical! He's been a long time resident on the North Shore of Kauai and he's opening a tiki bar "TIKI INIKI" in the Princeville Shopping Center. http://tikiiniki.com/ They had a soft opening this past weekend (I missed it by 5 days) and will open for real in June.

Bang on the Drum is ok, if he would only send "All Night Long" back to last year!

I would be disappointed if there was no Hot Hot Hot.
I seem to remember a Louie Louie opening a while ago.

I can totally see this song fit as an opener for Jimmy! Looking forward to hear it live!
(Currently listening to a Todd Rundgren show recorded last year in Amsterdam. Interesting music!)
