Who's Going to Boston May 30th? (Buffett, James Taylor ...)

Post by BottleofRum »

Yup.. in Boston, a month before Great Woods. A Boston Marathon benefit show for the OneFund. Jimmy Buffett, James Taylor, J. Giles, Boston (the band) and the legendary New Kids on the Block  so far .. where is Marky, Mark?? . Official announcement coming Friday, May 3rd. The Boston Globe has confirmed it.

http://www.boston.com/names/2013/05/02/ ... story.html

As we reported first, a blockbuster concert benefiting the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings will be held May 30 at TD Garden. Live Nation’s Don Law, one of the event’s organizers, will announce the lineup Friday at a press conference at the House of Blues. We’d heard the benefit for The One Fund would include some of the biggest names in Boston music, and, apparently, we heard right. According to people privy to the planning, among the acts expected to perform are Boston, the J. Geils Band, James Taylor and Carole King, New Kids on the Block, and Jimmy Buffett. (Although Buffett isn’t from Boston, the “Margaritaville” singer has a rabid fan base here and is close friends with Law.)

If there is any way for me to be there I will. I wonder how much the tickets will be? I imagine they will be almost impossible to get.
If that lineup is real I'll sell a kidney.

Anyone interested in trying to get some "Boston Strong Parrothead" shirts made or something along those lines? I'm probably not the best for doing artwork but I'll help spearhead getting some if enough people are interested. I'm going to try my hardest to get to that show. It should be amazing.

Official lineup for the May 30th concert: AEROSMITH, JASON ALDEAN, BOSTON, JIMMY BUFFETT, DANE COOK, EXTREME, J GEILS BAND, GODSMACK, CAROLE KING, NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK, JAMES TAYLOR, STEVEN WRIGHT.....
http://www.aconcertforboston.org/

Tickets on-sale May 6th 10am... I can't find prices yet but if we pool our kidneys that is a good place to start!

They also announced that tickets are all going to be paperless in an effort to cut down on scalping.

Best news is no Drop Kick Murphy's... they are in NM that night... thankfully!

The map they display shows seats available behind the stage. FWIW when Buffett played in this building in 1999 they also sold seats behind the stage.

I like some Drop Kick Murphy's stuff. Not a whole nights worth , my brother in Florida is a huge fan of there's. He's been on stage with them in Orlando and in Boston.

ticket prices i thought i saw were 238.00 to 38.00. Thursday night would be tough , especially with my job leading into Memorial Day weekend.

How many songs do you think Jimmy will perform? 3 - 5? Perhaps sit in with another band for an encore?

When played at the Hurricane Katrina benefit, he did 10 songs. I've seen him at 2 other benefit shows, he did 2 songs at one and 3 at the other.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

I would imagine they'll all only play a couple, like the show at MSG for Sandy. While it's nice that Jimmy will be there I'm going for the whole experience (assuming I get a ticket)

You'd have to think he would do a song or two with James Taylor as well.

The last time I was frightened was when I was in Salem. It's just so darn beautiful. So beautiful it's scary. So scary I was frightened. Boy howdy . . . that was one special beautiful frightening day. I actually marked it on my calendar. Two peas in a pod we be.
