Once Again a So Cal Shutout

Post by LiveandletLiver »

Radio ads for Jimmy in Vegas stared yesterday on LA radio stations.

Like the last few years this signals no concert in So Cal. Oh well...

What does that mean? :-?

I know we are spoiled with yearly dates in the northeast, and there is lots of speculation on why he won't play Irvine anymore, but he did play So Cal/San Diego last year.
You only have two options - havin' fun or freakin' out...

It was something a stoner surfer buddy of mine used to say back in the '70s.

Basically root = dick.

The 70s? Are you old or something? :P

Seriously, I have no idea why he doesn't play Irvine anymore, maybe a local can weigh in on that. And since he went north last year between the Vegas shows maybe he'll go south this year. :D

Either way, find a cheap flight to Boston and we'll tailgate you right at GW. :wench:

I'd love to do Boston. I was in the city once in the '90s and didn't get to do squat. I never saw any touristy stuff or got to do anything relevant to the city. The closest I came was diving by Fenway on the way out of town.

I did get to see Jimmy at Bristow in 2008 when we were back for the USC-UVA game. In fact that was why we were in Boston for a USC-BC game and they play again the next two seasons.

Yeah I am old. A biscuit short of 60 but my liver is only 30 so that averages out to 45.

there are close venues. it's not like you live in MT, and have to drive 600 miles for a show. deal with it. hug that.

Now who's crying?

I didn't pick where you live so why bag on me over it. So Cal used to be a regular tour stop for Jimmy for three decades. When you enjoy something for that long and it stops you miss it. Yeah I'll go to Vegas but it isn't the same as Irvine. If missing that is whining then yeah I'm whining.

they have been advertising the Vegas shows for several weeks.

even giving away tix for the first weekend.

I don't think we are getting Irivine this year. I'd love to go back, but I don't think so.

Viva Las Vegas...
Buffett, Street Party, shoot machine guns, people watch, have a nice drive back to LA.

its a great weekend for me!

1. I wish he would do Irvine because it's a way better tail gate party then a Vegas pool or alley.
2. I also wish he would come back to Montana! Remember that night in Montana when we said there was no room for doubt? Well I'm doubting he will return to the Big Sky for a concert...but he'll be here fishing! That's for sure!
3. Sigh...maybe he will play San Fran? Seattle? something on the West Coast PLEASE! It's expensive to fly out of Montana!!
4. Red Rocks in Colorado would be awesome, but then maybe I just woke up..

Thanks for listening to my wishes!
Cheers!

Vegas has taken the place of So Cal on his tours. He has had a tempestuous relationship with Irvine since a new management group took over. He left Irvine a decade ago and played the Pond (Honda Center) a couple of times then went back to Irvine for three years before cutting So Cal out of the picture for LV. He did play at SDSU last year (I went) but the tailgating was sparse and a mile away from the venue.

He may come back to Irvine some day. I'd love to see him back at the Hollywood Bowl again or the Greek too but time is running out. Oh well...

Looks like with the addition of Denver and Phoenix between the Vegas shows I have to agree, west coast will not be hosting Buffett this year............ :-?

A san diego station 101.5 is giving away ticket packages to the las vegas shows and...wait for it... San diego show. I was caller 4, called 5 was the winner...damn. Really hope its chula visit. The sdsu show was kind of lame. I dislike indoor shows and tailgating was "offsite". Ahhh i miss the days of glory that went down at irvine meadows over my last 25yrs. Started going out of highschool cuz my dad, sailor jerry, loved going. Would really love to take my 10yo boy and my 69yo dad. That would be amazing! Kind of wish he'd do santa barbara again
