Interesting article found on Margaritaville.com. Landshark Landing at the Maragritaville Hotel Pensacola made the list. Number one on the list is Bankie Banx's Dune Preserve on Anguilla, location of Jimmy's "Live From Anguilla" CD. I can think of several beach bars that deserve to be on the list starting with Whiskey's Joe's Tampa and the Mucky Duck on Captiva Island.

I gotta think there is at least one decent beach bar on the US West Coast, and if I remember right, The Flora-bama doesn't straddle the state line anymore.

I haven't been there in twenty years,
but I had a great night at
Gladstones on the Beach in Malibu once.
Had my Hertz rent-a-wreck valet parked on the beach
between a Maserati and a Lamborghini.
Damn expensive drinks and food but a helluva bar.

The couple hundred or so beach bars I've drank in over the years
must all be at the bottom of the list ....
... but they're all top five to me.
My favorite haunt in my Virginia Beach daze back in the early 80s
was
Ocean Eddies on the Pier. Dropped my keys on the floor once.
Yep ... straight between the pier slats and into the ocean.

Beachcomber on Cape Cod and the Ocean Mist down in RI are way better then some of the places on that list.

Anyone else notice that two of the bars are at a place called "Phuket"?

Gladstone's is also a place to be seen. They serve a great breakfast too and it's not crowded at all. There's a Duke's in Malibu and a popular fish place called Neptune's Net right on Ventura County Line- surfers, hippies, bikers, yuppies and tourists all in one spot right next to the Pacific Ocean.

I was at Gladstones the same week as the Academy Awards.
Everyone there and I mean EVERYONE from the customers
to the wait staff claimed some sort of connection to "the industry".
The only conversations were who was going to what "after party"
and who had connections to who ....
.... business cards were flying back and forth faster than lightening.
I will say this .... California has some fine looking waitress/dancers/actresses.

Well then it shows that who ever made up the list has probably never had a decent drink in their life.
Phuket (promounced poo-ket) is a tourist trap for 20-something bogans and rednecks. The exception to the rule is the fact that it is also a bit of a mecca for kiddie fiddler sex tourists.
Frankly, I would not trust whoever compiled this list...

I haven't even looked at the list but if the Beachcomber is not on it, then the list is a sham. That place is great.
