World Series.....onboard!
Super Bowl.....Not enough "real" fans in attendance.
NBA Finals....yeah, not a fan of the NBA so much anymore but I can see the allure.
Stanley Cup Finals.....now you're talkin'!
Indy 500....too much area/track to keep tabs on.
Daytona 500....see Indy 500.
College World Series.....can't handle the aluminum bats. Seems like baseball woosification.
Hoops final 4. Would be cool if you could get good seats....but watching hoops in a dome from the distance most of the seats are.......
Frozen Four.....Cool.......pun intended of course!
Olympics.....Yeah...money no option...I could see that being pretty awesome.
WrestleMania............
Arena Bowl.....No thank you.
Grey Cup....Only if you can guarantee Bryan Adams/The Guess Who & BTO do the Halftime entertainment!
The Winter Classic......You do realize this is played Jan. 1....OUTDOORS...usually somewhere frickin cold, most likely while nursing a New Years hangover!
As a college football fan I would counter or expand on the Bowl Games. I would add the BIG rivalry games....and I mean the BIG & NASTY ones.
So far I have witnessed Michigan/Ohio State, Texas/Oklahoma, Florida/Georgia. I would add to the list as major events Auburn/Alabama (if Auburn can get their s*** together again), Florida/Florida State & Miami/Florida State & Texas/Texas A&M.
I would add a REAL Championship fight in Vegas to the mix. And I don't mean some bullshirt match made for money only. A Pacquiao/Mayweather fight would be off the hook. A Sugar Ray Leonard/Marvin Hagler type fight would have been awesome & of course a legit heavyweight fight....although I'm not sure if those exist today. Let me correct that, I KNOW they don't exist today.
I'm not a golf guy but I am a tennis guy. I think the U.S. Open would be incredible. Wimbledon....I know it's the most prestigious but not sure If I'd like the vibe.
The Triple Crown horse races would HAVE TO BE amazing parties but I don't think the actual races would interest me so much.

not at all interested in a title fight in Vegas (elsewhere would be attractive)
I did get to see Boom Boom VS Bobby Chacone
I love Arena ball
most of the CFL grey Cups are indoors
the thing about some of the others would be the Party/ People watching aspect

Any of the Grand Tours — Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, or the Vuelta Espana.
And then there's RAGBRAI — a major sporting event that you can actually take part in!

Re: "major Sports event" ?
I've been to 2 major events:
1. Stanley Cup finals - Islanders and Oilers in 1984
2. Belmont Stakes - 2009 (Belmont Park was less than 10 miles from where I lived on Long Island)
I don't know how "major" this is but if I still lived on LI I would have tried to get a ticket for the baseball All Star game at Citi Field next month.
I'm not a big college football fan, probably because I went to a college that didn't have a football team and I spent the first 60 years of my life in the NYC/LI area where we don't have big time college football, but if I could go to any of the big games I would pick the Rose Bowl.
I would like to go to a Super Bowl just because it's the Super Bowl but the tickets are too expensive.
The Olympics would be cool but, and don't laugh too hard at the native NYer, I don't do crowds well.
The NBA finals and the Final Four don't interest me, I was never much of a basketball fan. If I won a contest or somehow was able to get free tickets I'd go but otherwise it's a snooze fest.
There are probably some events I'd go to if I were younger but I'm not as wrapped up in sports as I used to be.
It's funny that a couple of people mentioned the Grey Cup. My brother-in-law is Canadian and his nephew played in the CFL for about 10 years, he was an offensive lineman. He won at least 1 Grey Cup with Montreal, he may have been on another championship team but I'm not sure about that. I saw a picture of his championship ring, I think it would be a bracelet for most people.

Re: "major Sports event" ?
Hmmmm ....
I went to the Preakness Stakes, a lot back in the 80s/90s. Mostly the infield.
Never saw a horse but did see a lot of Sha-Boobies.
U.S. Open Golf at Congressional. Very hot. Too much walking.
Went to the MLB All-Star Game at Camden Yards back in ... 1993?
Also saw Cal Ripken's 2131 game in 1995.
If you live in the mid-Atlantic ... consider this:
The East Coast Surfing Championships in Vah Beach, always the last weekend in August annually.
ECSC is North America's Oldest Running Surfing Competition
and the second oldest continuously-run surfing contest in the world (behind one held annually in Australia).
My favorite event is always the "Legends Longboarding" event for age 50+ (I qualify to compete now by age, NOT by skill level).
Huge event held annually in Virginia Beach, Virginia since 1963 (last year was the 50th event) ....
Hundred plus of the world top pro surfers ... $200,000 in prize money.
Ginormous week long event also featuring skimboarding, skateboarding, volleyball,
an oceanfront 8K run, swimsuit competitions. Beer and food galore.
Live bands perform for free on an oceanfront stage throughout the weekend.

Re: "major Sports event" ?
A "major sporting event" is something defined but huge corporations and media outlets to market a sense of excitement so people believe what they are experiencing is important. I think that the Cape Cod World Series is a major sporting event. It sure is to the kids who play in it even though it doesn't get any television coverage (national or local), any real endorsements from corporations, or huge ticket prices. It is free professional baseball near the beach and it matters. I am sure every area of the United States and most areas of the world have some sort of local sporting event that is "major" to those in the community and to those who get the thrill of competition. Do we in the United States give a sh*t about Rugby? Based on television ratings we do not. But in New Zealand that is as major as you can get. I bet people in Dallas still think Cowboys games are "major" even though Romo starts for them. If you let the media define what a "major sporting event" is (like ESPN) then every single Red Sox v. Yankees game ever played is a "major sporting event."
They aren't. They sure did squeeze in a ton of commercials during all those 5 - 6 hour long games . . . but really? They were just baseball games. Chatham v. Cotuit last summer had better baseball.
In other words, it is all Point of View.
In other words, it is all Point of View.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .
