After being sidelined by a stage accident, Buffett returns with strong new LP

Thanks. I'll be interested to see if they actually review the album. Nothing new but fun read

Rolling Stone has actually been quite kind to Buffett, especially in recent years.

i've noticed a pattern with rolling stone, as the artist gets older the kinder they are to them. I'm amazed by the 5 star reviews they have given to Springsteen, Dylan, and others in recent years. Sure they put out good albums, but not all of them have been 5 star worthy.

I don't know that that necessarily has anything to do with those artists aging as Rolling Stone has also been particularly kind towards Springsteen, Dylan and the Stones. There's a 5 star review for one of Jagger's latter solo records written by Jann Wenner that's always been considered suspect. As for Buffett, I can't really remember a time when they were unkind towards him, even going as far back to reviews of his albums in the 70's so it's not as though they've had some sort of change of heart when it comes to his work.

I can remember the last time they were not good to him. I thumbed through an issue a week or two ago, where they listed the top 50 live performers. He was not listed at all. (I will find out tomorrow if I think he deserves to be on the list.)

The Rolling Stone article about the top 50 live acts now surprised me a bit too. I'm fortunate (crazy) enough to have a part-time gig as a stagehand in the local IASTE union and I've seen and worked probably 80-85 percent of the acts listed in the article. And casting aside my obvious parrothead induced bias, there is no way that Jimmy should be left off that list. The Boss is the man though. He seriously works it every night.
It was too much tequila . . . . or not quite enough.

Well, um ok, I guess if not being kind includes omission, which it can, but come on... I can't remember any unkind album reviews.
