I can't believe it has been ten years

September 19 marks the tenth anniversary of the passing of David Gordon Kirkpatrick* AO, MBE.

It seems like just yesterday that I worked a few gigs with the great man. Closer to 15 years in actual fact.

On Friday I guess I'll have a rum or two and listen to a couple of albums as a nod to him.

* You might know him as "Slim Dusty".

Slim was the first Aussie to have a gold record and recorded over 100 albums during a career that spanned more than 50 years of live performances. He was a real "old fashioned" gentleman and country performer.

I treasure the memories of meeting and working for Slim.

He should have a few videos out there...

Over 100 albums in 60 odd years of recording.

All of those albums were with one label. EMI.

You don't get that kind of loyalty from a label anymore :)

(Unless you own the label I guess)

How I would've loved to grill some "shrimp on the barbie" and have a few cold 4X's with him.

Thanks for the memories, Slim.

I will raise a glass of Bundy this evening, in your honour.

I might even get my wobbly boot on...
