Vaping

Post by Nighthawk »

Who here vapes? I was a smoker for over 21 years, and have been vaping now for close to 6 months, with my last cigarette being like July 1st.

Where do you order from? What are your favorite juices....

Mt Baker Vapor out of Washington has some really good juices, one favorite of mine from there is the Zebra Stripe gum.

Goodejuice is another great place, I am real big fan of their Kryptonite. Tastes just like the green kool-aid we all drank as a kid.

I smoked for 30+ years ... started vaping over 18 months ago
on Memorial Day 2012
and haven't had a cigarette since.

We have a store called "All In Vapors"
around the corner from me that I get all of my juices from ...
before they were here I did mail-order
from Vapage.com.

I prefer the straight "tobacco" flavor
but sometimes get a "coffee" flavor for variety.

I have not liked any of the "fruit" flavors.
Just not my cup of tea.

We have a few "do-gooder" politicians that want to ban vaping
since "studies show that more and more middle and high school students are trying it".

Bullsh#t. If they found a way to buy vaping products that are restricted as sales to adults only,
guess what? If you ban them, those same kids will be buying cigarettes.

Vaping is the best damn invention out there
and was the ONLY way I finally quit smoking.

Tried it, but since the politicians in Canada will not make the nicotine version legal, it's not going to help me quit. Planning a trip to the US in January to find what I need and get started.

Either of you have any recommendations?

Don't: but have a stupid question.
Could you modify a unit to smoke Dope?
I was at a game at Candlestick this year for a 'Niners game and saw three guys sharing a smoke.
It just made me wonder.

Vaping involves a battery (rechargable) that
"vaporizes" a liquid that can then be inhaled.
Since it is essentially water vapor, it is odorless
and does not stain your teeth or tongue
and does not leave an odor on your person, hair or clothes.

The liquid can be any of hundreds of flavors
and can contain nicotine at multiple levels
or no nicotine at all, making it ideal to
cut back on your nicotine habit bit-by-bit
until you are at 0%.

Is it safe? Healthy? I'll tell you this ...
it has to be healthier than setting fire to tobacco
plus all of it's carcinogens
and inhaling smoke. This is a water vapor.

To answer your question about "dope modification".
Possibly (probably?), but the version I use
vaporizes a liquid, so the dope (THC) would need
to be in a liquid form.

Yes I have heard of people using hash oil in the ecigs. They also do now have dry herb attatchments.

From what I have heard, the hash oil when you vape is odorless and gets you a even better high,

On a related note...

Never been a "smoker" per se, but have enjoyed good cigars occasionally. Problem has always been that you just can't smoke 'em in the house, and all winter it's just tooooooo cold to hang around outside for the time it takes to enjoy a good cigar.

On a whim, I tried an e-cigar. Can't actually find them in stores, but found one online. THE CUBAN by Logic. Not bad at all, and there's no residual cigar smoke smell.

Anybody else tried one? Just wonderin.....

I never smoked cigarettes but I used to smoke cigars a lot. It was mostly cheap Tampa Nuggets or Swisher Sweets.
I smoke the disposable e-cigs that I just pick up at a convenience store. I have not invested into rechargeable ones yet.
The flavor reminds of a cheap cigar, so maybe that's why I like them. I bought a Swisher Sweet disposable once that was a letdown.
I've found that the disposables by Blu are pretty good.
Most of the time I buy a $7.99 to $9.99 disposable and it lasts a couple of days.
Since I was never really a bigtime cigar smoker, I only buy one every few weeks or so.
The reason that it does not last long is because I never have to light it, so it seems like always in my mouth, especially at work.
I've read some good viedo reviews about a big rechargeable E-Cigar called Cohita by Epuffer. Been looking into that.

a bit of a sidebar to the subject...

Just a few weeks ago, my company put out a policy memo regarding vaping...as in NO VAPING/NO SMOKING would be the new standard around our offices and shop facilities.

A few smokers had started "sparking up" in their offices, and even though there was no odor or discernable vapor residue, the bosses reasoned that they wanted to consider vaping on "parallel terms" with tobacco smoking, mostly because they said not enough is truly understood about the longer-term effects of the practice.

Personally, I've been curious. I was not a smoker, but on many occasions enjoyed the (now legalized) sweet leaf.
I miss the flavor, but I don't miss the residues and plain mess of smoking! ....bye-bye bong!

Late to the conversation.  I read through the comments — especially the one from SP where he states that e-cigs vaporize a liquid that can then be inhaled and then reiterates the view that since it is essentially nothing but water vapor, it is odorless, does not stain tongue or teeth, and leaves no residual odor on person, hair, or clothes....all of which is undoubtedly true as these are all results of the burning of the tobacco.  He then goes on to say that "the liquid can be any of hundreds of flavors and can contain nicotine at multiple levels or no nicotine at all, making it ideal to cut back on your nicotine habit bit-by-bit until you are at 0%".

This makes me stop and think — if you add something like flavorings to a liquid, it is no longer just water vapor you are inhaling (and exhaling), but water vapor + some sort of ingredient.  And if the liquid can contain nicotine (or THC/some other dope, as a couple of posters suggested) one is merely substituting one form of drug delivery system for another.

I repeat.

Is it safe? Healthy? I'll tell you this ...
it has to be healthier than setting fire to tobacco
plus all of it's carcinogens
and inhaling smoke into the lungs,
something I did for over 30 years.

My lungs have cleared.
I have not had "smoker's hack"
for more than 18 months.

I no longer smell like a smoker.

I have energy back that I had lost.

Without the vaping option I would probably still be a smoker.

Yes. It is a nicotine delivery system. Or it can be 0% nicotine.
Yes. It has other ingredients to add flavoring,
just like every food or drink or substance
sold that does not have an "organic" label.

Arguments that it is not healthy or that
it can be obtained by those under 18
need to take into account
that the alternative is tobacco leaf products
with hundreds of added carcinogens and
crap
that also can be obtained by
anyone under 18 with an older friend as well.

I was standing next to someone at a concert over the weekend that was smoking an e-cig/vaporizer that was maple syrup scented. Even though I've been tobacco free for just over five years, I almost would have rather been submitted to actual cigarette smoke as the maple syrup scent was stomach churning and not just for me, everyone else in the immediate vicinity was perturbed, including the band. In fact, the offender was even called out by the band but continued to smoke anyway. Hopefully, even e-cigarettes/vaporizers will also be banned from clubs in the near future.

If that's the case, than they will have to ban all cologne and perfumes people wear because some of them are downright disgusting and offensive and can cause people to have respiratory problems too.

I'd put this offense under the no smoking ban in area nightclubs, restaurants, etc. that's currently being circumvented by people smoking e-cigs. If the scent was odorless I would have no problem with it but that maple syrup scent was nothing short of rancid.
