Guy Clark Feature (Texas Monthly)

Post by Tiki Torches »

He Ain't Going Nowhere
AS THE GODFATHER OF NASHVILLE SONGWRITERS, GUY CLARK HAS SURVIVED MORE THAN FORTY YEARS OF LATE-NIGHT PARTYING AND ARDUOUS TOURING—AND SUFFERED THE LOSS OF THOSE HE LOVED MOST. YET SOMEHOW HIS GENIUS IS AS SHARP AS EVER.

Awesome! ETP had told me to read this, but I couldn't find it online. So glad to know he's planning on touring some more, and that it sounds like he's found some happiness.

He only had one tour date scheduled for this album, which just so happened to be in Durham, NC back in October, one which he had to cancel (for very good reason). Looking forward to seeing him get back up and at myself, he's a living, breathing embodiment of the triumph of the human spirit.

I would have gone to see Verlon back in August but that was the same night Steve Earle was playing the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh. Thankfully, a friend of mine attended the Verlon show in Carrboro and did some filming for Indy Week. If anyone is interested in watching the footage you can do so here.
