Raleigh and Charlotte are both pretty great. Charlotte lots open early (noonish) and they know how to handle Parrothead crowds. Do not waste your $ on Premier Parking...those lots do not open till 2. Raleigh was pretty cool too. Just superhot back in '08. Never been to VB. Hope that helps!

Virginia Beach historically blows for tailgating. In fact, I think it's even been banned in the past.
Been to Raleigh once, didn't have any issues there.
Have also been to Charlotte but that was the '04 show at the old Charlotte Coliseum. That was a good time as well. The Steelers drafted a young QB named Ben Roethlisberger that day.
So yes, as others have said, Charlotte or Raleigh > Virginia Beach

Lots wont open until 4pm. Venue is smaller, but very nice once you get in. Lines are long because they do not have many gates.
Someday I will.

Can't speak for Charlotte or Raleigh but VA Beach is pretty bad for tailgating. They wouldn't open the gates until 4 last year and then spent most of the time riding around in golf carts and cops on bikes telling us how lucky we were that they were allowing tailgating at all.
It was too much tequila . . . . or not quite enough.

can say the one concert I went to in Raleigh was good, only downside to that run was it being 103 and humid to match. Otherwise, that day still stays in my memory.
