I think you will be happy. Cinci has a great tailgate, we can set up very early
Just about any seat in the venue is a good one. For us we love Cincy and Frisco.
It's 5 O'clock somewhere and I'm 15 minutes late

it does sound great! i usually tailgate pretty early, starting as soon as i possibly can but of course drink in moderation... no matter how many buffett concerts i have been to, i would never want to NOT remember one.Captain Parrot Head wrote:I think you will be happy. gotta be there by 8a to get a good spot in the lots near the T. but there is nothing like being there on Buffett Day: warm (and going to hot); sun shining out of a clear blue sky and a view of the towers on the bridge across the OH; a Red Stripe in one hand and a good cigar in the other; 6 different Buffett songs blaring from stereos; and friends (old, new, and just not yet met) from all over the country inbound.

Oh, I ALWAYS start at 8 AM. ALWAYS. =-P Except last year but that was in Nashville where you can't tailgate & the official block party didn't start til 10:00 AM... I was there at 9:00!
I just got approved to take off work for 2 days for this show. And I may have 2 co-workers coming with me now, & it will be their first Buffett show... but they're big fans. Can't wait to meet as many of you as possible, & I appreciate as much info as possible about the area & tailgating, especially if I end up traveling alone. It gets nerve racking when I'm alone!

understood on the travel and nerves. nothing like getting lost in Dallas coming up from Houston and discovering you really did make a bad turn.

do any of you meet up early in the morning like 7:00 am-ish & do a caravan to the tailgating area? i'd love to follow some people into the tailgate area instead of trying to find buffett news folk via cell phone.. worried cell reception won't be great.

Re: Who's going to Cincy July 21??
the Houston show that year was at the Woodlands, with a big yellow moon over the lawn on a Monday night. Not a lot of tailgating in the Woodlands lots, best Houston show was the year before at the Juicebox downtown. The Dallas show was the next weekend after the Houston Woodlands one, and put the trip and tickets together in 2 days. Got into IEH and out of by 930, and made it up to Dallas by 1130. Then spent an hour driving around trying to find my way to Frisco and the tailgate. W/ folks in from all over for the show, (and only losing a bottle of rum to accident...) it was a great show and a great gather.KaseywithaK wrote:lol. i think i might rather be in dallas than houston anyhow!RinglingRingling wrote:

Cinci's gathers are always good, good people in from all over. Best tailgate led into the concert ending with "Paradise" as the final song of the night. hasn't been a better song lineup since, and the family who showed up were an incredible mix.

usually nothing formal, re: caravans. Cell reception down there is decent, it's more difficult to hear over the music sources than anything. texts work well. however, given the length of the day, might want to make arrangements to have a chargers/backup power supply thoKaseywithaK wrote:do any of you meet up early in the morning like 7:00 am-ish & do a caravan to the tailgating area? i'd love to follow some people into the tailgate area instead of trying to find buffett news folk via cell phone.. worried cell reception won't be great.

Awesome! I found a long cinci tailgate video on youtube, they went around the lots, so I got to swe what it was like. And they also had the flamingo guy there whom I met at the nashville show last year.pema wrote:the two lots they are talking about are pretty tiny. they won't be hard to find.KaseywithaK wrote:do any of you meet up early in the morning like 7:00 am-ish & do a caravan to the tailgating area? i'd love to follow some people into the tailgate area instead of trying to find buffett news folk via cell phone.. worried cell reception won't be great.

Re: Who's going to Cincy July 21??
Greetings from Cincy! I took a ride down the the Riverbend today. All the changes to River Downs (now known as Belterra Park) are jaw dropping. I took some pics and will post them tomorrow. There have been some changes in the tailgate lot sizes. The lot where the Cincy PHC sets up for tailgate has not changed. The lot on the other side of Sutton and Kellogg has grown as much as it can grow. The lot has been cleared and graveled to the fence row, about another 25% of tailgate area.
The huge lot on Kellogg that as across from the RD parking lot and the stables has changed. This is where they plan to build the hotel and I am not sure when that is to occur....but do think it will be sooner than later. the East side of this big lot has been cleared in a couple tiers these are not accessible yet. the the lot is now graveled to Kellogg road. the west side of this lot is pretty much the same with the exception of an access road that goes up the hill - this road is cabled off.
The race track has been moved further east and there is now several parking areas between the racino and riverbend. that could come in handy concert day.
It looks like the retail area is going to be on the lower level with glass walls. Belterra Park is scheduled to open in May.
one last thing. AJ's Road house closed last fall and has been for sale....for an outrageous amount.
Fins up!
