Just wondering if there is anything in particular about this show dictating a close to 300.00 face value for a seat, and 152 dollar face value on the lawn. ?
That is even higher than the floor in Vegas, at face value ? Am I missing something or is the place just way high ?

The venue in Atlanta only holds 6900 patrons and is located in a very high end aka wealthy area which accounts for the the high ticket prices for Jimmy's show. The venue is the outdoor home of The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and other classical music events.

Chastain caters to high end clients. You can buy season tickets although I haven't found out what it costs, their web site has you fill out a form and the venue will then contact you with pricing. Then they have their concert series, A and B, A just went on sale this past Sunday. For a table with 6 seats it'll cost around 6 grand. Or if you don't like that package which includes I think 8 shows, you can buy a mini-package for just two shows and you can pick from the A concert list which includes Hall and Oats, Willie Nelson, Lionel Richie or my favs, Santana or Clapton. (You can do Santana and Clapton for just over $300). I think single seat tickets will go on sale in a few weeks but by then they've taken care of the big dollar people by giving them the closer seats.

This venue does have the Atlanta Symphony series, the above mentioned series and single shows like Buffett, I'm not sure if a season ticket is to all events or only the selected shows, they probably have different levels there too. This way the big-wigs from Delta, UPS, Coke, the government, don't have to compete with us little people for events.

I'm not sure why this venue was chosen for a Buffett show unless maybe they're feeling the waters at smaller venues to downsize the hoopla prior to Mr. Buffett's retirement. Or maybe it was as simple as a problem with the city who owns Lakewood.

The City of Atlanta owns Chastain too for that matter.

I was a little excited when I first heard this. Chastain is easier for me to get to and I like the venue, completely outdoors, nothing but stars and surrounded by trees. But then I saw the date - have a conflict - and THEN I saw the prices. Oh well, there's always next year, right. RIGHT??

Both are owned by the City and Buffett appearing at Lakewood has been the norm for years. Maybe it has something to do with Springsteen appearing at Lakewood at the end of April. Two massive shows like that may have put the city in a difficult position with satisfying the neighborhood. Who knows...

I did read that the Atlanta Parrothead Club was allocated 100 tickets and they're selling for $155 but you had to have been a member in good standing in 2013. I wouldn't imagine that these are lawn tickets either. It's just not convenient for me to be a member, too far to travel.

Last time I looked Lakewood has nothing scheduled for the night Jimmy is at Chastain

No but the weekend before is Dave Mathews and the weekend after is Journey/Steve Miller. The previous weekend is a three show spot with Jason Aldean. It puts a lot of pressure on the city and their relationship, and possible agreements with, the neighborhoods to start throwing in mid-week shows. There's nothing else big scheduled around the Buffett show at Chastain. It becomes politically problematic if you keep inconveniencing one area over another especially considering the Chastain area vs the Lakewood area. Again, I'm just considering possible reasons for the venue change and have no real insight to the truth.
