iPod Question

Do we have any iPod mavens out there? My iPod plays just fine, no issues there, but when I plug it into my computer to sync it to my iTunes library there are 2 problems:
1. songs that I added to iTunes don't get transferred to my iPod;
2. songs that I listened to on my iPod don't get updated in iTunes as having been played.
I never get any error messages when I sync it so I have no clue what the problem is. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Is it an iPod or an iPod Touch? Did they always get transferred over automatically? Could your music be set to manage manually? That would mean you have to drag them to your iPod one by one. I have it sync playlists, so I add music to a playlist and that gets carried over. If you have it set to sync your entire library automatically, then there could be a problem.
I have noticed issues lately with my iPod Touch. There was a software issue they had with a recent update that caused iTunes to not see the devices. I'd plug it in, hear the connected tone, it would show up in My Computer, but wouldn't show up in iTunes. I ended up needing to manually change the driver that my computer was using so it would use an Apple-supplied driver instead of the Microsoft default one. That corrected my issue. I have also had issues where my iPod Touch would connect, but every time I had to select "trust this computer" on the iPod Touch before it would sync. I believe the most recent iTunes update corrected that.
Assuming you have the same problem and are using a PC, here's the fix I found. Solved both issues for me. Again, an iTunes update could resolve it as well.
1. Go to Control Panel > Hardware & Sounds > Device Manager
2. Right-click the Apple device > Properties > ‘Hardware’ tab > Properties > ‘Driver’ tab > Update Driver..
3. Search for the driver in “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers”
4. The driver should be named ‘usbaapl64′

I have a regular iPod, not a Touch. I didn't do any of what you suggested but when I plugged it into my computer to sync it tonight, a couple of hundred songs were added and the songs I listened to when I was in the car today were updated as having been played. I didn't do anything different but it worked.

Thanks anyway.

My only guess is that either you hadn't plugged it in the last (or last few) times you connected it to your computer or your cord is going bad.
