With the death of Peter Matthiessen last week, the PBS program 'Frontline' posted this video of the old PBS show 'Adventure' on their website. This episode features Peter and fellow author Randy Wayne White exploring the Ten Thousand Islands and the Everglades by boat(s) and by foot, visiting locales which featured prominently in the life of the legendary and infamous "Bloody" Edgar Watson, which became the basis of Matthiessen's "Watson trilogy", later revised and compiled as his award-winning book 'Shadow Country'.
If you're a fan of Matthiessen, Randy Wayne White, old Florida history, the Everglades, or just great nature footage, do yourself a favor and carve out an hour to watch this on line. Some good stuff and video of one of my favorite places on Earth.
