If This One's For Us, What Do You Want To Hear?
The word around the water cooler is that this tour is for us! So if you could pick a song or two for Jimmy to pull out of the closet and play when he visits your town, what would it be?
I had the good fortune of hearing Jimmy play Nautical Wheelers last year in Bristow. Now that NW is behind me, my highest ranking songs I'd want to hear in Bristow are Lone Palm and Little Miss Magic, two great songs that hit those sweet spots in my soul. Unfortunately, they are extremely elusive in concert. Maybe one of these days I'll get lucky.
So... What are you keeping your fingers crossed for? Any particular reason why you want to hear it?

Some good suggestions already. I'll just say "Jimmy Buffett songs". Most any of them.

Take Another Road
Stars on the Water (I think the last time I heard it was the "Hurricane Hannah" show)
Knees of my Heart
Tire Swing
Autour de Rocher
Death of an Unpopular Poet
Tin Cup Chalice
And I know this is probably not popular with anyone else but I loved Summerzcool.
Here we Are - because after all, it's supposed to be about US.

Re: If This One's For Us, What Do You Want To Hear?
As always, I want to hear "Hello Texas" at one of the Texas shows.
But I'd like to hear "Railroad Lady" in Austin, yes, it's a cover, but maybe the songwriter (Jerry Jeff Walker) could step in and assist.

Buffett's the co-writer so it's technically not a cover.Dezdmona wrote:But I'd like to hear "Railroad Lady" in Austin, yes, it's a cover, but maybe the songwriter (Jerry Jeff Walker) could step in and assist.

Good deal. First time I heard it was JJW, so I just made an assumption without checking. I'm not as sensitive about 'covers' as some people around here. Frankly, lots of people are songwriters, but not performers.
A few of the ones he's written in recent years s***, especially the music, so maybe he needs a little help.
If he can find a song that fits his style, and he has the chops to sing it, I'm good with it.

Agreed, though that tends to be more true of his early covers than his latter day ones.Dezdmona wrote:I'm not as sensitive about 'covers' as some people around here. Frankly, lots of people are songwriters, but not performers.

Re: If This One's For Us, What Do You Want To Hear?
I would love to see a show without the big 10 or 8 or 11 whatever it is this year. Just 26-28 Buffett classics spanning his entire catalog. A few of my favorites that I have never heard live:
Death Of An Unpopular Poet
Defying Gravity
Lovely Cruise
Banana Republics
Treat Her Like A Lady
Twelve Volt Man
Desperation Samba
When The Coast Is Clear
Pacing The Cage
Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On
Something 'Bout A Boat
Einstein Was A Surfer
I Want To Go Back To Cartagena
Death Of An Unpopular Poet
Defying Gravity
Lovely Cruise
Banana Republics
Treat Her Like A Lady
Twelve Volt Man
Desperation Samba
When The Coast Is Clear

Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On

I'd like to hear ANYTHING live.
I still live in hope that the band will come back to Sydney one day - we will even put safety nets around the stage if we have to!!

Someone facebook the Margarillas and tell them to check out this forum. After reading the story about being backstage with Todd Snider and JB- JIMMY might be interested to know what his phans are saying about the set on the internet.
"Tragedies very often become comedies, and they better become comedies real fast or else you're in a lot of trouble..." - Jimmy, 1978.
