On this board, we've been discussing the highs/lows and good/bad of our drive-in experience last night , but I just wanted to take a moment and share a thought....
My thanks to Jimmy Buffett for giving the drive-in thing a try. It's an interesting experiment, I enjoyed the evening, I think the idea has lots of potential, and it didn't kill my checking account (the way concerts often do!)
I'll see you all at the drive-in next time!

Agreed, it was a great idea. Unfortunately, he doesn't have control over the individual theaters to make sure they put out the level of product that we are used to seeing from Jimmy
Had a time!! took a couple of young ladies that I have known since they were in a stroller
they had a great time, that said, not sure which other bands this Idea translates to.
and I would not go without a crew. but then if I am home alone I never listen to the concerts on Radio Margaritaville
it does not lift me up, it makes me sad that I am not there YYMV
We had a great time at the drive-in. Our's opened the doors at 3:30 and allowed pop-ups, grills, the whole tailgate experience.
We had a band playing pre-show, really wonder if the owner is a fan or what?!?!
The picture was great and our group commented how nice it was to have that up front feel to the show. Added bonus, the storms waited till after the show to start too.
Hope this happens again next year......... Jimmy come on up to Harvest Moon drive-in next year!!!

After 27 concerts, I finally got to take my boys to a show (well kind of)!!!!!
about 21 years ago I took two young ladies to a Buffett show one her first one (my lil sis) her second
this year I got to take two young ladies to their First Buffett show
Brother/Uncle Wayne strikes again!!!!
We had a great time in SoCal (Montclair). The best part of the experience was taking our 11 year old daughter to the drive-in. If not for the show, we probably would have never gone at of our way to take her to the drive-in. For many of us, a drive-in has become nothing more than nostalgia.
Our drive-in did not open its gates until 6:30p.m. We got there at 6:10, and, not surprisingly, the line to get in was backed up. The drive-in was slightly unprepared for the massive onslaught. The pre-party reminded a little of the Irvine Meadows days.
As for the show, it was great. Few things are better in life, than sitting outdoors on a beach chair, having a beer/wine, enjoying the nightime sky, and listening to Buffett. Perhaps, the beauty of the show is knowing that this was not a money-making venture for Buffett. The event was for the fans.
