Bob Marley sure was racist towards anglo-saxans. What a douche.

Please elaborate on how that relates to Marley being racist towards Anglo-Saxons.drunkpirate66 wrote:More like the Potato Famine but along those lines.

It doesn't.
The entire thread is absurd. Just adding to the fun.

Can't say the thread is "absurd" at all. If you actually read the article, you would see that the songs selected for Legend steered clear of any topics that might have been deemed controversial, a tact that wasn't representative of Marley's output in the least. Then again, I seriously doubt you even read the article, especially judging from your response.drunkpirate66 wrote:It doesn't.

So...a record copy put together a compilation of songs that they thought would sell. Yep, happens all the time. You could probably say the same for any number or artists. If you really want to get to know the artist skip the "Greatest Hits" crap.

Except that isn't exactly what happened here. Other records of Marley's sold perfectly fine that included his militant songs and odes to ganja. Legend left songs such as those out of the picture. When Catch A Fire was originally released it was tampered with after the fact when Chris Blackwell brought in renown Muscle Shoals musician Wayne Perkins to overdub guitar parts on that album to make it more palatable to a rock audience. Not quite the same approach that was taken with the whitewashing of Legend but still, very similar.STL Parrot wrote:So...a record copy put together a compilation of songs that they thought would sell. Oh no Tiki is a Marley expert too.

I've never made any such claim. However, Legend without the full spectrum of his work would be like Songs You Know By Heart including only "Margaritaville" and love songs such as "Come Monday". It would be a very one-sided representation of Buffett just like Legend is with Bob Marley.FinsUp6835 wrote:Oh no Tiki is a Marley expert too.
