The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees, boat ride on the Seine
A word of caution - the Arc de Triomphe is in the middle of a traffic circle that has about 10 or 12 streets feeding into it. There's a pedestrian tunnel you can take to get there. Take it.
If you go to the Louvre, be prepared to spend the entire day there and you still won't have time to see everything. The Mona Lisa is in a separate room inside a glass case, no photos allowed, but it's worth spending a few minutes just to see it.
I don't speak a word of French but I didn't have any problems getting around when I was there. All of the employees in the hotel I stayed in were bilingual so I was able to get directions to go places from them. Walking around the city, if I had a question about getting someplace I just walked up to someone and asked. Many French people speak English and despite their reputation I found them to be friendly and helpful, but maybe that was due to my charming, lovable personality.
Much like NYC, I thought Paris was a very walkable city and I spent a lot of time just strolling around looking for stuff to do instead of relying on guidebooks.

I took photos of the Mona Lisa both times that I visited. No one told me not to.

So this is why you aren't going to Paris this year.
