One of the things that I admire about Buffett is that, over the last few years, he has mentored younger artists, Ilo, Matt Hoggatt, Mishka, and now Brendan Mayer, Peter's son. One of the enjoyable things, so far, about this tour is watching Brendan and Peter play guitar together. Peter must be very proud of his son. Brendan is an excellent lead guitar player, and he has debuted 2 songs on the tour, Getaway Car and Something to Say. I've liked both of the songs. Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote to Walt Whitman, "I greet you at the beginning of a great career." If Brendan works hard and makes good choices, I think he could be around for a long time and have a successful career. By the way, I like how Buffett, when Brendan performs one of his songs, stays on stage playing percussion rather than taking a break.

I agree. I thought Jimmy looked like he was having a lot of fun last night. It showed a lot of class staying on for Brendan's song. I prefer seeing Jimmy sing when I pay over $200 for a show but kudos for him doing it. This must be like a dream for Peter. I think it also shows how much Jimmy truly respects his band members.

Jimmy is gracious to do it.
Something to Say is, for this listener, a much better song than Getaway Car. Looked like a good time up there.

Your point is well taken. One of the happy events of this tour is getting to see Peter play music with his son, Brendan. It seems that Peter and Brendan have emerged from parenthood/childhood as friends. That in itself is worth standing up and cheering for. However, when you're spending, to use your figure, $200, you want to hear Buffett songs. So, if Jimmy is going to give a song to Brendan, which I'm all for, then don't do 10 other cover songs, and definitely don't do the Zac Brown medley, good as it is, because that's not what I'm paying my hard-earned dollars to hear. Give me value for my dollar; play Buffett songs.ParrotHead67 wrote:I agree. I thought Jimmy looked like he was having a lot of fun last night. It showed a lot of class staying on for Brendan's song.
