Hi all,
We will be going back to the Florida Keys in a little while and were looking for some good suggestions for snorkel trips. It seems like Marathon will be a good place to start since we are staying near there and it seems to be plenty of charters there as well as reef trips from there. We are going to be three adults and want to do a 1/2 day snorkel trip. Can anyone recommend some good outfits to look at?

Thanks,

While we have never snorkeled in the middle and upper Keys, we can recommend the snorkel trips provided by the Bahia Honda State Park and also Sunset Watersports from the Key West Bight out to Sand Key.

Yes. Actually the trip departs from the state park dock. Here is the link:

I was actually thinking about The Horseshoe Jetty at MM 35 on the north side of US1. It is an old quarry from when they build the Bahia Honda bridge and it left a small sheltered horseshoe shaped bay with at the gulf entrance a very shallow coral ledge making it inaccessible to sharks and accessible for us from the road. We will check out Looe Key since everyone says it is so nice and one of the best in the lower keys. Thanks for the link.

Thanks,

I'm a little late on this, but for posterity's sake ... best snorkeling in the Keys is Looe Key.

I snorkeled with Sebago out of Key West. All I can recommend is that you don't drink a bunch of two-for-one margaritas for breakfast at Willie T's before you go, and that you pack Dramamine. That was one miserable excursion for this cowgirl! Couldn't even drink any of the free beer that was included! But a great (foggy) memory all the same!

Have fun!

Has anyone taken the Danger Charters out of Key West? The look real nice and not too much more expensive than any others. They offer two trips we might go on, The Back Country Safari or a Reef Snorkeling trip. Had anyone ever taken these out? They are out of the Hyatt.
As far as the horseshoe it was a nice local spot near mile marker 35 gulf side but it stank SO bad wen we were there in July we have to leave and go to Bahia Honda which was the same. Forgetting to clean out gear after this, our car stank real bad for a long time. The rental car company wanted to charge me a cleaning charge of $250. :-o

I have only used Fury out of KW and I love them. Book at least one excursion with them each time we go. Back country, reef, double dip, they are all great.
