Donor-rita-ville

Post by Tiki Bar »

LifeSource, our local blood drive company, has a current promotion going, that cracks me up! Does anyone else have the Donor-rita-ville Blood Drive going in your neck of the woods? Hey, whatever it takes! It's for a good cause!

http://www.lifesource.org/donor-rita-ville/

Summer has an extended stay in Donor-rita-ville!

Due to popular demand, we are extending your Summer in Paradise.

Now through August 31, 2014, experience Donor-rita-ville at our community donor centers.

Traditionally, summer is a time for vacation and enjoying time off. However, one in seven people entering the hospital this summer will need blood. The need for blood is constant.

As special thanks for making time to support life this summer, all participating donors will receive a limited edition Donor-rita-ville hurricane mug and T-shirt. You will also be entered into a raffle for a pair of Jimmy Buffett tickets for August 23, 2014 at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre.

In addition, all donors who schedule their next appointment, will be automatically entered into our Cheeseburger in Parrot-dise raffle for a chance to win a tabletop grill with accessories. Two donors will win!

Bring a friend, stop by your local donor center and experience Donor-rita-ville!

Can’t donate? Check out how to win cool, limited edition Donor-rita-ville memorabilia and be a blood donor advocate! Follow us on Facebook or Twitter for details.

For more information, call 877.LIFESOURCE (877.543.3768) or click here to make an appointment.

PREPARE FOR YOUR DONATION • EAT WELL • STAY HYDRATED • BRING ID

Very cool!

I was working on the next lyrics for their video:

Makin' my way again to Doner-rita-ville,
Searchin' for my lost doner ID,

Some people claim that there is always a need,
So I say, sit in this chair and just bleed!

Very nice!! :D :D

And I must admit... haven't donated in many years, but I may give it a go.

I stopped because my blood was deemed unworthy... wonder if it was for life, or if the problem may be gone? Guess I'll have to try to know.

. . go for it . . ! ! . . I used to give all the time . . but the last few years, they deemed me " age/weight deferred " . . :-?

. . look at it as changing the oil in your car . . face it, what you donate, gets replaced with new and clean . . ! !

. . win/win in my book . . ! !

. . ps . . consider your luck with contests . . . you'd probably win . . ! !

. . :D

With that much less blood, a post-donation margarita would have even more effect. More bang for your buck!!

I tried, but I couldn't do it. Medical issue.

But I still could have gotten the tshirt and cup for trying, except they ran out a couple weeks ago.

But I still could win Buffett tickets or the tabletop grill and accessories.

I wouldn't be able to donate to this drive because it's nowhere near me. I donate regularly, I just donated the 30th of July and, I'm not eligible till near the end of September. They have a drive here that is through Dunkin Donuts, Where they give you a pound of Coffee for donating. It is good coffee too. I Have MS and have never had a problem donating so that's a good thing. What they are doing is a great idea . The Margaritas would really hit the spot after that though.

While this is (theoretically) within my reach, I have been a donor through the American Red Cross (the original 'Bloodmobile' people) since 1972 or so — and am up to something like 18 gallons to date.  So long as the Red Cross is still out there and willing to take my blood, I'm not about to change horses in mid-stream just to win Buffett tickets.

I like the way you think.

Maybe blood banks should have a "pre-happy hour". Give blood at 4:00, head over to your local dive at 5:00 and save a few dollars. :pirate:

Well, they do say drink plenty of fluids after you donate blood.
