How many of you out there remember growing up with the Mickey Mouse Club on TV?

Next year (2015) marks the 60th anniversary of its debut on television, and there is a groundswell of support for a proposal that the Disney Company give the original eight Mousketeers — Sharon Baird, Bobby Burgess, Lonnie Burr, Tommy Cole, Darlene Gillespie, Carl "Cubby" O'Brien, Karen Pendleton, and Doreen Tracy — the status of "Disney Legends".  I feel, frankly, that this is long overdue, especially inasmuch as another famous Mouseketeer — Annette Funicello — along with the two on-camera adult leaders of the Mickey Mouse Club (Jimmy Dodd and Roy Williams) were originally awarded "Disney Legend" status 'way back in 1992!

Your support is requested.  Just send an email to "guestrelations@D23.com" (I recommend using as the subject something like "Mouseketeers as Disney Legends") and politely ask that they consider designating the original eight Mousketeers as "Disney Legends".  You might mention how 2015 is the 60th anniversary of the origin of the show and would be the perfect time to correct this long-standing oversight.

Every day!!! And, when I was about 5, the mousketeers were appearing at the 4th of July celebration in my town--my parents took me and I wore my Mickey Mouse ears. When we entered the stadium, there was another family with a little boy, who was wearing his ears---it was love at first sight! Not really, but I was quite taken by seeing that!

Love that story, Ellen!! lol

I knew the song, but don't really remember seeing the show too much... just in reruns I imagine. I do recall thinking Cubby was cute!

Yes I admit it. I used to watch the old "Mickey Mouse Club" on TV, in black and white, when I was a kid.
Also "Romper Room", "Ding, Dong School", and "Percy Platypus and His Friends". But "Captain Kangaroo"
ruled!! :pirate:
