Let's encourage Jimmy to play Red Rocks next summer!

Let's start a campaign to get Jimmy to play Red Rocks next summer. Every time he comes to Colorado he mentions how great it was to play there. If we all keep reminding him, maybe it will happen. It would also be great if Mac did a solo show there as well.

Would be cool but sadly a waste. His set lists and concerts are becoming so predictable and stale.

For those that have never seen him before, the set lists aren't old. :) But Red Rocks is a very special venue that he used to perform at.

It would be nice, but the truth is, it’s a business decision. If there is money to be made playing there, he’ll do it. if not, no. I think fan encouragement has nothing to do with it. its probably not a moneymaker for him, otherwise it would be a yearly stop.

Jimmy still plays a number of smaller clubs and locations. Red Rocks should be a natural.

I was at his last Red Rocks show... 1990. He had played Fiddler's Green a number of years prior (partially due to it being owned by his record label MCA at the time). He was signing his book Tales From Margaritaville at a local mall winter of 1989, there were tons of people there lined up for hours. I was able to meet him and he signed my copy...

He played 2 shows in 1990, and he mentioned that it was all the people at the book signing telling/asking him to play Red Rocks again. So he did.

Times have changed... he has to play 2 shows to make up for 1 night elsewhere. For some reason he avoids the Denver area in the summer.

Red Rocks is a very special place, and seeing him there was pretty cool (my 2nd show).

Don't worry FinsUp6835, you won't see me there or any other concert. Last year in Camden was the last time I will waste money on his concerts. Love the music, hate the concerts. He has an incredibly deep catalog of music to pick from and yet the set lists now compromise 1/3 covers, 2/3 Songs You Know By Heart with the OCASSIONAL treat thrown in. Tired of seeing the same stuff year in, year out. Zzzzzzz.

I am not alone either. He is not a guaranteed sellout anymore. Camden had loads of tickets available, pavilion too. The big Comerica Park show in Detroit did not sell out this year, tickets heavily discounted before the show. He would be better off retiring and take a page from the Dead, Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen. Go into the vault, remaster older shows and release them. Live in Anguilla is a great live recording as is You Had To Be There.

No he doesn't, not stateside anyway. An occasional MOTM appearance, some bars in the Carribean where he can land his plane. I'll give you Paris. For the fee he pulls he can only play large venues to put butts in the seats, otherwise ticket prices would be ridiculous. Check out the thread on the past year Atlanta show. Smaller venue, higher ticket prices, and people were not happy.

In 2013 he played Belly Up Solana Beach - a very small bar type of venue in California. Last year he did the Drive in Show. His Hawaii concerts are in locations smaller than Red Rocks, so it is possible.
