Hey all you Irvine tailgaters! Since technology gets better and better every year, what would be the best method to announce to everyone when exactly the parking lot opens for RV's on 10/24? Perhaps a group text?? I remember back in 2007 we all gathered at another commercial parking lot in Irvine close to the Amphitheater and then someone who was the "lookout" at the gate spread the word as soon as the lot opened, but I don't recall who that was and what exactly was the method of notifying everyone. If someone on this list is planning something similar this time around, please let us know. My RV is ready to go !!! Thanks!

In years past, so many RV's/cars lined up it backed onto the freeway and they opened the gates ! Who knowsthis year... Across the freeway from the venue is the Irvine Spectrum- huge place with bars/restaurants/shops etc and plenty of "parking" to at least rendevous and start the festivities ! The Landsharks will be down there circling by 11 am !

Got a reply on Facebook from Irvine Meadows about opening time for the lot...
Parking Lot Opens: 4:00 PM
VIP Gate Opens: 6:30 PM
Ticket Gates Open: 6:45 PM
House Opens: 6:45 PM
Main Stage Begins: 8:00 PM
Kind of bummed out. That's too late for a tailgate. If we all showed up by noon and backed up the freeway, wouldn't they have to let us in? Also heard that they are charging $40 for preferred parking and $75 for RV's. Regular parking is free, but they fill up a smaller back DIRT lot first, which takes a couple hours to fill before they let you park in the main lot.
Wish there was something we can do about the opening time. Maybe we can tailgate at the Irvine Spectrum from 11am-4pm, then move to the main lot. OR Try to park in the Irvine Meadows lot before anyone arrives (if you can drive in)...
...anyways this may be the last Irvine Meadows Buffett show ever, so we better enjoy it while it lasts. Their lease is up in 2017 and will not be renewed in order to make room for more apartments. That is why the venue, seats, facilities, are on their last legs and falling apart rapidly.
This will be my 15th show at Irvine!

Well, I am no expert at how Irvine Meadows actually plans to open their lot this Saturday, but in the past (2007) they also published the same "official" parking lot opening time of 4pm, however I entered the lot in my RV at 2pm and was certainly NOT the first one there! So perhaps this is a "canned" response and it changes unofficially due to demand or even perhaps at the demand of Irvine Police who might have a problem with all the vehicles backed up in the area. I say we all get to the area in our RV's around 1pm and then perhaps someone can be a lookout to signal when the lot actually opens. What say you all?

This is bad news. I skipped the Hollywood Bowl, which is 15 minutes from my house to go to Irvine, which is over an hour away, in order to tailgate. I was hoping to get there early and spend the day. This kinda blows.

There will be ALOT of people in and around the Irvine Spectrum parking lot and the Marriott hotel big parking lot... I know grouos are getting there about 1-1:30 ...past experience is the gates do open earlier than posted time due to amount of traffic volume but who knows... We'll be in the Spectrum area by 1pm

Also confirmed:
Parking is free in regular lot...but they will fill up smaller dirt lot 1st due to size of crowd expected (that lot will take on average 1 1/2 hours to fill...looking at around 5:30 - 6pm) before you will be able to park in regular paved lot.
Preferred parking by venue's entrance will be $40.
RV's (no 5th wheels or trailers): $75.
