Good morning Don, Colleen, Nancy!
No better way to start a Saturday than having to shovel snow. Frack!

Good morning. I'll be headed to the House of Blues this afternoon, they're having something called Local Brews, Local Grooves. It's sort of a mini Beer Fest with some local bands. The last 2 years the Myrtle Beach Beer Fest was at House of Blues the last Saturday in March. It must have gotten too big for the space, this year it's going to be at the ballpark where the Pelicans play and it's May 9. I get to go to 2 Beer Fests this year.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

Ahoy!
We broke down and moved the town's XMAS display to storage today. The football and track coaches require service from players,so with all the kids, it went fast.Tonight we attend a fundraiser dinner to get a service dog for a little boy, adopted by a parrothead friend. He knew the challenges ahead for the little guy,but he and his wife have big hearts.

If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Driving home from Kansas City, had a great trip but the kids are EXHAUSTED. Had lunch at Fritz's, where your food is delivered via train. My littlest fell asleep with his mouth open while staring at the trains. Now we'll see if they sleep at all on the way home.

Re: Thought I'd check in at the MSC Saturday
Well I had to brush away a small tear last night.
As some of you know I have had a long and satisfying affair with Vanuatu. I have been visiting her since the 1980's.
The recent cyclone has wreaked much havoc across her.
During the mayhem contact was lost with many outlying islands. On one of the islands a couple of late teen Aussie women were volunteering as teachers. Nothing had been heard from them (or anyone else) on the island for over a week.
Late in the week the search helicopters finally got to the island and located the village and the women. Unfortunately the helicopter was unable to land, so with typical islander ingenuity the rescue crew wrote a message telling the women where the nearest safe landing point was - this was written on a coconut (it was never adequately explained just why the crew had the coconut) and dropped it to the girls.
The women were then flown, via a circuitous route back to Port Vila (the nations capital).
The women were asked by a journalist if they were looking forward seeing their families, to which one defiantly replied "I'll won't see them until July, I'm not going anywhere!"
I was so pleased to see her resolve to stay and muck in for the relief effort, rather than taking the easy option of coming home.
We need more of that kind of spirit.

Good evening Nancy, Parrotheads. How's life?lime rickie wrote:Evening, y'all!
We're seven miles from our exit. Such a fun mini break, so ready to be home. So ready for my son to stop kicking my seat.

It was a lot of fun! Good to see my sister, I don't see enough of her. We found a lot of kid friendly stuff to do. These kids drive me crazy sometimes, but I love them to pieces, and I love getting to take them places and spoil them every once in awhile.lime rickie wrote:

Getting ready to go out in a little while, we've got a babysitter so that my boyfriend and I can go out-- we're celebrating two years together. Not that long in the grand scheme of things, but worth celebrating nonetheless.
