We used to have shelves in the family room that were covered with various sizes of rooster "statues" --- metal ones, ceramic ones. Those have since flown the coop. (actually, they migrated to the basement where they're now gathering dust)

However, my wife DOES have about 10 gazillion dollars worth of Pfaltzgraff. Because you really do need separate sets of dishes for each season, holiday, etc. Personally, I don't really care about the plate ..... I just care about what's on it.
I know a lot of people that got Pfaltzgraff (and I sold it at one time), but it wasn't a favorite of mine.
We have solid white dishes for every day. I had a teacher in college that said before you pick out a pattern, think about a serving of BEETS on it. If your dishes didn't look good with beets, it wasn't a good pattern. LOL
My theory about patterns is ..... if I can see the pattern, there isn't enough food on the plate!

Not only do we rotate the dishes that are used for meals, we also rotate the ones on the display shelves. (and by "we", I don't mean "me")

Plus, there's a separate shelf high on the wall along one side on the kitchen with an ever changing array of dishes. Apparently right now it's chicken season.

I don't eat beets and if anyone comes to my place to eat, they're going to eat what I serve. Which will only be things I eat. So why would I care what my plates look like with beets on them? Because there will never be beets on them. Or seafood. Or most vegetables. Or mashed potatoes.
I don't eat beets either....nasty.
BUT
You don't eat mashed potatoes????

Mmm....beets. Mashed potatoes.

I had a bialy then a grilled cheese sandwich made with fontina and spicy pickles. Still full so probably no dinner for me.

I eat potatoes - scalloped potatoes, au gratin, hash browns, fries, whatever, I'll eat all of them. Just not mashed or baked.

I'll eat potatoes if they're offered. But I don't eat them at home. The white sweet potatoes on the other hand? Yum. And seafood? Mmmm.

Can't wait until we hit NOLA. Going to pig out.

Don't eat Beets?

Pfffffffffffffffffffftttttttttttttttttttttt

You haven't had a burger until you drag it through the garden (salad) and add bacon, egg, sliced pineapple and pickled beetroot.

I used to do that...

But too many got confused - including me.

Above all that, it ANZAC Day here today.

The 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli Landings - Australia and New Zealand's first land warfare commitment of the Great War.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
