This is going to be interesting. I am sure that he is getting a boatload of money for this show. Which makes me think that ticket prices may not be cheap. For the millennium show I remember reading about how people who bought the expensive tickets were upset because the show did not sell out and prices eventually got reduced. I don't see this show selling out either. I cannot imagine what getting home from this show is going to be like. Snow/sleet/ice/rain/cold, and millions of other drunk people, everyone piling into the same subway, LIRR or Metro-North cars? In this situation, I do not think that the pleasure will be worth all the pain.

But I will gladly watch from the comfort of my own warm home on M'ville TV!

Been to Times Square many times. However, never on New Years Eve. I'm sure the "local folk" i.e. Larry, would never even consider this. I would be willing to give it a try. Been to New Orleans for Mardi Gras....similar situation? Of course, I am about 30 yrs older now

FYI, Jimmy will not be performing in Times Square, he will be performing at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn

The Barclay's Center is in Brooklyn, it's nowhere near Times Square. If I still lived in NY I wouldn't want to be anywhere near this show. I'm not driving in Brooklyn, or anyplace else really, on NYE. There's a LIRR station near the arena, I'm sure there's a subway station nearby too, but not only will the trains be packed worse than rush hour trains, most of the passengers will probably be hammered. Thank you, but no.

As for watching it on Margaritaville TV, I'm not so sure they'll be broadcasting it. If there's going to be a live cut in from Ryan Seacrest's show I wouldn't be surprised if there's some kind of exclusivity clause preventing the concert from being broadcast live on any other media outlet.

This is once in a lifetime. Good thing we have friends that live in NYC and are a 10 minute train ride from the arena. They also go to JB with us every year :)
My wife and I feel that concerts are the best thing on NyE. We saw zac brown back in 2010 in Atlanta. Awesome awesome time. Tickets will probably be expensive but oh well. We live too close not to go

This could be a maybe , depending on cost, I could make the drive, and traffic coming out wouldn't be bad , I've never done NYC on NYE , and never had the desire to be stuck in a crowd of millions, and in cold weather. I know my brother has done a NYE concert at MSG a couple of times and he had no issue getting in and out.

Same with me, I maybe able to stay with family and go.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I hate to be the downer here, but, I don't know, just seems a bit too mainstream-y and a bit of a cash grab for me. I'd hate to be at the show, and realize they're waiting for the go-ahead from Seacrest to start a song, to be broadcasted on TV and on the jumbotrons in Times Square.

I'd take a New Years show in the Caribbean/beach venue broadcast via Margaritaville TV over this idea any day. Heck, I'd even pay good money for it.

While technically Brooklyn is part of New York City, anyone who is not familiar with the area should understand that this venue is not on the island of Manhattan (NYC to most people). The Barclays Center is on Long Island, in Brooklyn. While Brooklyn has seen a boom in the past few years and has changed dramatically for the better, I think that most people who are attending the show will not hangout before and/or after in the area around The Barclays Center. If you plan to go, I suggest you account for the fact that your pre and post concert festivities may not be close to the concert and any local bars that are there will be insanely busy. Also understand that travel both ways (to and from the show) via public transportation will likely be long and crowded no matter what your point of origin or destination is.

I don't mean to be negative. Only informative.

My friend went to billy Joel last year and they did do that to some capacity. It will only be for one song- that is part of the fun. It's nye!!!

Elton John - not Billy Joel. My bad!

The other thing I'm guessing is most of the good tickets will go to executives and sponsors. So , getting a great ticket could be tough. But , we'll see come Sept. when they go on sale.

He hasn't played in the borough's in a few years- last MSG show was in 2009 I think. (It's been since '07 for me :o which is just downright embarrassing to admit. ) I'm not the biggest fan of Jones Beach (yes its outside which is great, but the alcohol policy in the venue is a turnoff for some of us who don't mind continuing to have a few during the concert! Also not the easiest to get to without a car). MSG was never great on acoustics but it certainly was simple to get to when I lived in Hoboken.

Now in the city, I'm all for this. Was chatting with some friends who I used to go to shows with and we agree it's time to get off our butts and see Jimmy..and this is a pretty enticing option.

As for NYE, this will be an interesting draw. If I recall, the last few MSG shows did not sell out (I could be wrong), not to mention Stub-Hub will have plenty as people go in and have their plans change for that evening.

Transportation to the BC is pretty easy- the Atlantic Ave station is right there with connections on the 2,3,4,5,B,D,N,Q,R, and the LIRR. It's not too "deep" into Brooklyn- just a few stops from Manhattan. MTA would likely have some sort of enhanced service that evening across the system for the city, and not to mention UBER is far better that night in Brooklyn than trying to get something shortly after midnight in the city. I was in Williamsburg last year and had no issues or surge pricing at 12:30 from there going back to where I live in the Fin.Dist.

As for city-tailgating in that area? I'm not that great on the bars in the area by the arena, but there's plenty. Brooklyn is the trendy place these days..

Look forward to seeing you all there! Bummer Larry you won't make it. Been a few years!
