Happy Friday everybody -- pull up a chair and grab your beverage of choice.
I've only ever been inside 1 lighthouse -- Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse & Museum, in Ponce Inlet, FL. Now that I am severely afraid of heights I don't imagine I will be climbing up any more !

Good morning BN.A private island on the Allegheney river in PA has a lighthouse open for fund raising tours.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

This working lighthouse was recently converted to operate as a boutique hotel, too. It's The Inn at Cuckold's Lighthouse.

I saw a woman in the park wearing a t-shirt that said "BIG ON THE PIG." I resisted the urge to ask how she felt about the HOG.

This is a lighthouse "in the thumb" of Michigan. The Pointe Aux Barques Light House is in Port Austin. When we went to visit, they had the original Fresnel Lens from the light house in the museum I was tickled pink and told Sophie to "Go tell Cleopatra we found one." She didn't get it. I didn't care
Happy Friday!
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......

Hi All,
Next weekend is the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend.
http://www.illw.net/
I am hoping to have my radio shack back on the air to participate - although the coming week looks like spare time will be in short supply.
So if you know any Amateur Radio Operators (Ham Radio) rattle their cages and ask them to help you get on air and talk to so lighthouse folk.
My callsign is VK2CSW - if I get on air I'll be a home station talking to the guys at the lights.

Evening, Rabz!
We just donated a bunch of my dad's old ham radio equipment to a high school club. Who knew the kids were into stuff like this?

Unfortunately, over here, not too many are.
The radio clubs around these parts are in decline as the the cranky old sods who populate them drop off the twig.
Even when a younger persons joins, say under 50 years old, they quickly get disillusioned at all the old man complaining and the refusal of most to adapt to changing technology.
The sad fact is these old men are the one's with the time to go out and promote the hobby and they simply scare teenagers off.
*shrug*

So here is a plan - get to Key West. There is a lighthouse smack, bang in the middle of downtown...
