I was lucky enough to see him perform several times. What a talent, and he seemed like such a classy man too. The music industry lost a legend.

This news made me immediately think of when Allen joined Jimmy for the party at the oil spill on the public beach in Gulf Shores. That was just over five years ago, but now we've now lost two amazing musicians who played alongside Jimmy at that show with Allen's death and Jesse Winchester passing last year. Will Kimbrough, fortunately still with us, also sang a song (Nobody From Nowhere) and was on stage for most (if not all) of the set.
I had to go back and re-live it. Here are some videos if you're interested: Yes We Can (Allen Toussaint vocals, keys)

Toussaint also appeared on stage for Margaritaville, I'm Gonna Hang With Jimmy Buffett and Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans? -- songs that didn't make it on the CMT broadcast but that someone probably has laying around recorded from the RM broadcast.
Happy memories. Sail on, Mr. Toussaint.

JB will be participating in a public memorial for Mr. Toussaint. You can listen live at wwoz.org. It should be starting soon.
